I am excited to tell you all that the Briggs and Stratton 4-8HP is VERY LOUD and makes it rather obvious where the dead spots in your tune are. Its fairly easy to do and can be done at home without any fancy tools.
You will need:
A stock exhaust you're willing to cut to bits
Hacksaw to cut the stock exhaust and custom Mudflap bracket
Drill
Various drill bits
Some JB Weld or other metal bonding glue/epoxy
You will also need a trip to the hardware store to get:
Roughly 3FT of 1/8x3/4 flat stock aluminum or steel to build a custom Mudfla bracket
New Bolts to hold your custom mudflap bracket to the engine case/mudflap
A hose fitting that adapts from your cool new exhaust to your cut up pipe
Finally the Briggs Muffler used in 4-8HP Applications
This is what I made:
And this is what it all looks like slapped together on my ruck:
Personally I think what I've done here looks like a 6.5/10, doesn't ruin the performance of MY ruckus given how I had it tuned, and makes me a little more noticeable to the other vehicles on the road.
If you'd still like to copy what I have done here take all those parts and tools you've just gathered and put them to good use.
EXHAUST
1. Cut the exhaust pipe right before the exhaust hangers, or just below the radiator
2. Test fit the hose fitting in the end of your pipe, keep fitting until you have a "snug" fit
3. Glue the fitting in with your JB Weld and let it cure overnight
4. Paint the pipe if you feel like it
5. Slap the muffler into the hose fitting and you're done!
Mudflap Bracket
1. Drill a 5/16" hole in the end of the bar stock and bolt the bar up to the upper exhaust mount hole
2. Mark where the hole needs to be for the mudflap and drill a 1/4" hole where you've marked the correct spot to be
3. Cut the end off the bar and you've finished the upper bracket, bolt it into place
4. Repeat step 1 except bolt up to the lower exhaust mount hole
5. Pick a spot on the upper bracket you'd like to attach the lower bracket to
6. Line up the lower bracket with that spot and drill a 13/64 hole where the brackets cross paths
7. Take everything apart, deburr, trim parts, and paint if you want
8. Reassemble the parts on your machine and enjoy.
