Hi Guys: I have a 2011 Ruckus and it has a little over 1200 miles on it and I noticed that the rear shock bottoms out! I am a large rider 6'1'' 240 lbs. I need to change the rear shock with one that is adjustable that will solve this problem. Does anyone out there know of a aftermarket shock that I should replace the stock shock with to fix the problem? Thanks

I am in the same boat at 6'3" and 250 with my 2016 Ruckus. I see recommendations for the Daytona 270mm shock on Battlescooter.com, but they don't sell direct. I also see a reference to using an older Honda Aero 80 rear shock. I went the latter route and ordered an NH80 shock off of ebay. I will let you know how it goes. Pay attention to some of them that require mods or removal of the stock airbox. I personally don't want to re-jet, etc.

I received my Honda Aero 80 rear shock yesterday. A little scrubbing and it was quite presentable for a mid 80's shock. The spring is noticeably beefier than the tiny stock unit and overall about an inch longer. Installed without issue and the larger progressive spring makes a huge difference.

The battlescooter links I see referenced don’t work, I’m guessing the battlescooter store is no more.

I'm just over 200lbs, when I first got the ruckus I was around 220. The suspension was a joke. I went with a 310mm malossi($150 CAD) shock.its huge next to the stock shock. It lifted the bike enough I had to mod the kickstand to be stable again. The height is good for me as I use my ruckus offroad when I take it camping. I also loaded the front forks up with springs. I have the stiff spring from man in the box,but I also kept the large shock springs inside the forks with the new springs too. I also mounted my original short springs (I forget the names as I did this last year) on top of the dust seals for xtra suspension. This set up basically eliminated bottoming out. I have new dust seals coming and am checking out some industrial springs as replacements over the winter. With the malossi and mega springs up front my buddy that helps me with ruckus stuff says my bike is rock hard (hes 170) , but I find it quite comfortable.

I am 6 ft 5 in tall and 265 lbs. I researched for a long time and decided to try out the Doppler shock. It's more expensive but it's also really high quality and adjustable. However, here's the best part. You can install it in 20 minutes because it actually fits with the stock air intake! It was hard to track down a shop that actually had it in inventory. Greg at MNNTHBX was super helpful with everything. I don't know if we are allowed to post links so I won't unless someone says it is okay. I don't want to get banished. I've been riding on the new shock for about a week and it already makes a big difference. Says it takes quite a while to break in now.
