Hello (: I am new to the ruckus scooter as well as the forums so figured I'd introduce myself first, my names Cameron, nice to meet you. But anyways I recently decided to claim my grandfather's 07 ruckus he passed away a year ago and its just been in a shed with a tarp over top but has probably sat for 4+yrs. I wheeled it out gave it the once over as well as i expected it to be gunked up from sitting, kicked it over which took about three goes and it fired right up. Did a little research and saw how easy cleaning the carb was so let it run out the gas it had as well as freshed up the gas in hopes that if there is gunk it would all be in the carb when I finally cleaned it, well its kinda clean now, one screw on the bottom of the carb started to strip so opened up the top pulled the needle and flushed out the carb that way (in case that's incorrect or not efficient let me know!) Now its all back together but me myself weighing only 108-115lbs can't get it over 25mph, downhill yes but that should be taken with a grain of salt. Was just wondering have I cleaned it wrong? Some other obvious thing I should do? Tire pressure is one of the only things I can think of haven't checked it but doesn't blatantly look low. Anyways any idea of what's next would be much appreciated (: thank you.

After sitting for so long, maybe the slider does not slide all the way, you will need to properly tear down the carburetor to do a full clean, make sure the float is allowing the gas to get in and closes properly. Then if you feel brave a tear down of the variator is another good idea, cleaning and lube will do wonders for top speed. Sorry for your loss (your grand father) and congrats on the ruckus. Welcome to this forum

Thank you very much. I believe I'll go with the variator today, looked it up and seems simple enough not to mention as said a screws stripping on the carb was going to ask about that before I have at it. When its stripped 100% should I try one of those screw pullers for stripped screws or should I bust out the dremel and go about cutting/drilling it out?

Wow don't I feel like a baser -_- as said the tires didn't look bad or slump when I got on it........ But back was so low only the digital gauge read anything and it was 3.5psi... Front was 10psi brought them up to 20psi (tho believe it should be 25?) Anyways hopped on it and only can find random bits of straight shots in my neighborhood but hit 30mph with an incline I hope warmed up and with more space I can get to 45 so I can at least get on the main streets but generally happy as I can always do the variator tomorrow with some sun and hopefully properly clean the carb after dealing with the screw on a later date if more is still needed. Thank you again.
