Ok, as most of You know, Mitzie bought a new Honda PCX150 Scooter recently, and I bought a New Honda Gold Wing 1800 F6B Cruiser. I've ridden the PCX150 quite a bit and have really toyed with getting one. Well, yesterday, that changed. My Honda Dealer has sold every one of them that He's gotten in before they arrived, so I told Him not to sell the next one until I was given first shot at it...I sat in the "Honda Hot Seat" long enough yesterday to purchase His newest arrival...the "Red Twin" to Mitzie's.....
I owned a White PCX125 for 2+ years while putting 9800+ miles on it, as did Mitzie. The 125s were great, and could cruise flats at 60+ all day. Sometimes, long hills, and mountains would still pull Your climbing speed down into the 35-40 range...here's where the really big difference in the PCX150 comes in...forget the 71+ MPH top speed, it's virtually impossible to pull the 150s down below 50+ MPH no matter how steep or how far. I "tested" this by climbing to Newfound Gap from Little River Road in the Smokies 2 weeks ago...ran 55+ MPH pretty much all the way to the top. I could roll out of the throttle, slow to 30 MPH or so, grab the throttle, and be back above 50 MPH by the next corner....even 250cc Scooters can't really match this. The newest version of Honda's Fuel Injection and Clutch Assembly used on the PCX150 is amazing in both quick take-off and no fall-off in cruise speed, even uphill. The New 300 Honda Scooter, soon to be released, will have the New Technology onboard also...(My Buddy Ken, Honda's Regional Director for the Southeastern USA has promised me a "Pre-Release Test Ride" on the 300 soon... )
On the downhill run from Newfound Gap back to the Smokies Visitor Center, the PCX150 virtually lived on the 72 MPH Rev-Limiter, except for getting behind traffic...The Traffic was quickly passed and gone in the rearview mirrors each time. The Honda PCX125 has been pretty much proclaimed as the new Trendsetter in small Scooters since it's release. Is the PCX150 enough better to warrant Folks trading in Their PCX125s....YES, YES, and YES...Best running, fastest, quickest Honda Scooter this side of a Silver Wing that I've ridden. Mitzie also went on a Trike, Motorcycle Ride out to Shiloh in West Tennessee (600+ mile round trip) with Hers a few weeks ago and ran 65-70+ MPH all the way and back with the Big CC Bikes on 4-Lane Hwy 64. She's also ran the Interstate at 70+ MPH.....THIS is the Scooter to own if you're really into the Small Scooters.....
Mitzie's PCX150.....
I'll be picking my "Twin" to it up after we get back from the TRIKE and MOTORCYCLE RALLY in Eureka Springs, Arkansas next week...I'm leading about 20+ Trikes-n-Bikes out there, then leading Rides in the Ozarks....gonna' be FUN.....PCX150 Pics and Ride Write-up when I get back.....See Ya', skuuter...
