Having already posted my Favorite Ride Areas in my "Back Yard" so to speak, in Another Thread, and with 43+ years of Riding Scooters, Motorcycles, Trikes Hundreds of Thousands of Miles on These Roads, I'm gonna' list some of my Favorites here with some Brief Descriptions...Besides the Road itself, most will have several "Generations Old Family Run Eateries" on Them also unless I state otherwise...I will list some "Noteables" also at times
#1 Hwy 30 in Northeastern Middle Tennessee from McMinnville to Pikeville...this 2-Lane road never stops twisting and climbs mountains and ridges...great asphalt, great cambering, super scenery year-round, Low/No Traffic...90+ miles of Bliss...Get a Homemade Apple Dumpling with Ice Cream at Woodens Apple Orchard
#2 Hwy 136, a 2-Lane in Middle Tennessee that will twist and wind You all the way from Rock Island to Kentucky with everything from Waterfalls, Thick Forrests, Lush Farmlands, and Old Stone and Iron Bridges...138 miles of Bliss...Gainsboro Italian Restaurant...Homemade Pizza including the Crust
#3 Hwy 283 in Middle Tennessee...twisty 2-Lane that will take You from Whitwell/Powell Crossroads to Pikeville through the absolutely stunningly beautiful Sequatchee Valley...no mountains, but endless tight corners for 87 miles...Powell Crossroads Diner/Homemade Cooking by genuine "Little-Old-Ladies"
#4 Crow Mountain...Combo of Hwys 16,33, and 39 in Northern Alabama...Better like 9% to 14% grade drops and climbs, 10 feet wide, un-lined Roads (used to be logging trails for mule teams), high drop-offs with no guardrails, and Large Limestone Boulders up against the shoulders if You miss Your entry or exit on a blind corner. Kept Newly Paved because there is a Timed Sports Car Rally there annually (Pikes Peak Type Event). It even has a checkered finish line painted on it. Some corners are so sharp, and gain so much elevation at their appex that if You don't watch, Your Scooter or Motorcycle will sit the frame down on the road in right handers...Yes, this is FUN for really good, really experienced Riders, and definetly not for the timid. 39 is the "REAL KILLER"...using 33 only will lessen the "Terror" some. After reaching the Base, Hwy 478 will reward You with the Best Cheeseburger I've ever eaten at the Pikeville Store (the Store "IS" Pikeville)...only building there at a 4 Road Intersection...57 miles without the Store
#5 Hwy 41 in Middle to East Tennessee from Pelham to Chattanooga...This Road gives You a 6 Mile "Mini-Dragon" and endless tight curves, blind curves, and sweepers all the way to the base of Lookout Mountain...Beautiful Scenery as You wind along with the Tennessee River to Your left...great asphalt.....79 miles...Catfish House/in business with the same Family since 1939
#6 Hwy 52 from East to Middle Tennessee right below Kentucky...takes You winding from Jamestown to Springfield through Red Boiling Springs, Portland, etc. ...you like a really mixed bag of twisties, sweepers, fantastic ever changing scenery, and even a tiny little section of 4-Lane with sweepers ...then this is "Your Road"...122 miles of "Everything"...Larry's Restaurant in Springfield/Larry still runs it since 1958/Fresh, Home Cooking with Meats-n-Veggies
#7 Hwy 25 from Cross Plains to Carthage in Northern Middle Tennessee...Rolling Hills, Constant Twisties, Great Asphalt, Fantastic Scenery....Old Original Nashville to Knoxville Stagecoach Road with a Log Inn on it dating back to 1836...109 miles with too many great Mom-n-Pop Eateries to list

#9 Wayah Road from Franklin, North Carolina to Hwy 74 in the Nantahala Gorge outside Topton, North Carolina....Mountain Twisties, Steep Climbs, Great Scenery...Large Waterfalls that are hard to see except in Winter after the foilage dies down...Like a lot of the North Carolina roads, poor asphalt, and Lotsa' Gravel Washes...Fun and a "Must Do", just be careful Low/No Traffic...Riversend Restaurant on 19/74...not a "Mom-n-Pop", but the Trout Cake Sandwich, and Pizza are really good
#9 Hwy 28 from Deals Gap (Cross Roads of Time/The Dragon), North Carolina to Stecoah, NC...Lotsa' twisties, steep drops and climbs, great heavy sand content asphalt (very grippy) with scenic water views below Fontana Dam...easily one of the "Best Kept" surfaces on the North Carolina side of the Smokies Area...use caution here...Lotsa' Motorcycle Traffic some days, and this stretch of road has claimed the Lives of three of my Personal Friends over the years...Stecoah Diner...Great Family, Great Food, Very Motorcycle Friendly
