(#1) My Favorite Riding Area is Northeastern Middle Tennessee. It includes Towns like Lynchburg, Monteagle, Rock Island, Pikeville, etc. ...It has Mountain Twisty Roads...90 degree Cornered Country Roads...Beautiful Scenery, Waterfalls, Rivers, Creeks, Caves, and State Parks/Forrests...Well Maintained Great Asphalt Surfaces...Lots of 3-Generation Plus Owned Mom-n-Pop Eateries...Best of All, Little or No Traffic except for Motorcycles, Trikes, and Scooters on Weekends...Lotsa' Well-maintained Gravel/Dirt Roads-n-Trails...Lotsa' Mom-n-Pop Owned Scooter, Motorcycle, and Bicycle Shops also...!!!
(#2) Second on My List is the Northern Middle Tennessee Area that extends to the Kentucky Line including Towns like Red Boiling Springs, Portland, Springfield, etc. ...Pretty much the same reasons as #1
#3 Third is the Smoky Mountain Area. This Area includes Townsend, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cosby, Happy Valley, etc. in Tennessee, and Franklin, Maggie Valley, Hot Springs, Brevard, etc. in Western North Carolina. This used to be my Favorite (70s, 80s, 90s), then bumped to #2, and finally down to #3...This is primarily due to Heavy Traffic, Gradual Disappearance of 3+ Generation Eateries, Constant Road Construction/Closings, Lotsa' Bad Asphalt...I generally spend more time now on the Roads used by the Locals for getting "to-n-from" in the Area, and or the Great Gravel/Dirt Roads.....Pluses for This Area, especially to Folks New to the Area, are the "Obvious"...Smokies Park, The Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, Cades Cove, Foothills Parkway, and the Blue Ridge Parkway...Great Rides on Certain Days and Times...as mentioned, check out the Great Network of Gravel/Dirt Roads also.
#4 Northern Alabama/Southern Middle Tennessee. This Area includes Towns like Elora, Huntland, Mulberry, Fayetteville, etc. in Tennessee, and Pikeville, Woodville, Scottsboro, etc. in Alabama...Again, Great Mountain Twisties, 90 Degree Cornered Country Roads, Lotsa' 3+ Generation Eateries, Well Maintained Asphalt, Little or No Traffic. This Area contains Crow Mountain, which, still to this day is the Narrowest, Twistiest, Steepest Road ( 33 and 39) I've ridden to Date...Always a Challenge and not for the Faint of Heart, especially 39...!!!
#5 "Honorable Mention"....Not because of Anything inferior about it (on the contrary), but simply because it isn't in "My Back Yard", and requires a 10 Hour Ride by Motorcycle, 14 Hour by Scooter to get There....Northwestern Arkansas. The Eureka Springs Area especially. If Any of You can go there, or already Lucky enough to live there, Check out Roads like Hwy 62 (especially the west side), Hwy 23, Hwy 412, etc. For Sure do The Pig Trail...Kinda' like doing The Dragon (Several Miles Longer than The Dragon), but with Scenery, and empties into a Beautiful Valley. Also some really Great Eateries in this Area. The Mayor, City Council, and Police Chief in Eureka Springs are Avid Motorcycle Riders , and have personally toured Mitzie (my Wife) and I around when They heard we were back in Town...GREAT Folks, and the Whole Town is Super Receptive to Scooters, Motorcycles, and Trikes...!!!
Well, there They are Folks...my Favorites. Are These the "Only" places I've ridden Scooters, Motorcycles, and Trikes, no, far from it in my 43+ years of Riding Them. Only Place(s) I haven't gotten to Ride is the Far West, California, Wyoming, Dakotas, etc., but it will happen. I turned "60" this year, and in the Future, I plan to have more Ride Time. If You want/need any INFO on These Listed Areas, feel free to Post here or PM me...ALWAYS glad to Help Fellow Riders...see You out on the Roads, skuuter..... ;D *****
***** Coming Next...Favorite Roads, and "Soon", Favorite Ride Routes...!!!
