Hello All...... My name is Brandon and just picked up my first Ruck. Looking forward to meeting new people and modding my new toy. Please bear with me and what may potentially be dumb questions but just trying to learn the machine

I am new to this as well. Just bought a '11 and have already put 200mi on it. I did notice that it is slow off the line. Hard for me to beat other cars at the line. I often ride full throttle as well especially hills.
What are the first mods to get best performance w/o replacing motor? in what order? and what gains?:
*variator *clutch springs *torque springs *CDI *drive belt *exhaust

As silly as it sounds, the first performance mods are usually just making sure the tire are inflated to the correct pressure and that the oil is not overfill. Then the next is a variator ;D

As silly as it sounds, the first performance mods are usually just making sure the tire are inflated to the correct pressure and that the oil is not overfill. Then the next is a variator ;D So I got a Polini variator installed a Briggs and Stratton air filter Rode that config for 800 miles. My top end was 43mph. 45 assisted on flats after a hill bomb. Then I got a Daytona CDI, installed it, now my acceleration has improved but I lost my top end to 40 at best. Rechecked all my connections and soldered the crimp connections I had to the terminal relay box. Same result. I havent had any starter issues or non-start issue, and no ECU problems. I just want my top speed back! Any ideas? Another symptom is when doing hill bombs, I can achieve 50+ but once I hit the flats from the hill, it cant sustain top speed and decelerates me to below 40, if I'm lucky I can hold 40 mph. I've asked Jason from Battlescooter but he feels its my crimp connections, but now I have soldered them in. Any help would be appreciated.

I kind of had the same issue. My first mods were blue clutch springs and a red contra pulley and it vastly improved my acceleration. Next I installed a Daytona CDI and my scooter seemed sluggish. My acceleration gains were lost. The only benefit was that I could ride past 40 mph but getting there took forever. Jason at Battlescooter had me double check my wiring job but I got the same results. I was bummed out at the time but it made sense to me later on. So just to make sure everything was kosher, I got a fresh uni drop in airfilter and Daytona kevlar belt. In additon, I added a Daytona Drag variator with 6gm rollers. My results were disapointing. I could hear/feel my engine reving through the roof but I wasn't going anywhere. So before going back to Jason with my sad news, I decided to try different roller weight combinations. With the Daytona variator and 6 gm rollers, my revs were off the charts and acceleration was quick but only lasted until maybe 27 mph, then I could only crawl to 41+ mph. Then I threw in my stock Ruck rollers (7gms I believe). My revs smoothed out along with my acceleration (although not as quick as with 6gm rollers) and I could gas past the 44 mph area. Still not impressed, I tried the final option, mixing 3-6mg and 3-7 gm rollers. And I nailed it ;D My acceleration was smooth and quicker than with 6 gm rollers. I easily did 45 mph on flats without the "Ruck Tuck". So this is my current set up and its worked out the best for me. Since this set up worked so good, I gave 6.5 gm Dr.Pulley sliders a try. I chose 6.5 gms based on my 3-7gm + 3-6gm (adds up to 6.5 gm) set up . Unfortunately, although both weight options were equal, the Dr.Pulley slider weights did not translate into any positive gains. Hope this helps..
