So I got a hot gas tank cover and have removed the stock floorboards off my ruckus. I worked as hard as I could to polish and buff up the frame that was left exposed, and some of it looks pretty good, but its difficult to make it look like a finished product with all those funny angles.
Anyone had success painting that metal? I'm looking for a good primer and metallic spray paint that leaves a matte finish. Helpz!

just use a flat black primer- metallic paint isnt matte, its metallic. aka semi-gloss or gloss in some cases. flat primer is what you need, but polishing wont help with adhesion, you need rough surfaces for the best stick, so i suggest going over it with a fine grit sand paper. use a sander to speed up the process. wet sanding is fine too. remember, short strokes, no runs. runs come from buildup. so short strokes and just start with a light coat and do it in stages- dont try to cover on the first coat. you can hit it with some clear to give it added protection, but its up to you.

but for the longest lasting results, try a spray on bedliner paint, they make it in a can. and its matte
