For whatever it is worth, my two cents: Riding and stopping for sightseeing and bathroom breaks sounds like a good idea and it is even better if we can get the significant others to ride also, stopping for a BBQ and BSing is also a good idea, but sadly someone have to take care of the cooking so he or she does not enjoy as much as the rest of the gang, therefore stopping some where to have a group lunch is better, as far as i know the metropolitans have an advantage on the hills so if the skirt rides one she might beat us up the hills ( my wife always mention that in our last rainy ride over there she could catch up to you guys, sadly i was in the back barely making it up with the stock bore Katrina ) Riding on dirt was actually fun, at least i think so So in my opinion, riding from 6 to 6 with stops in between sounds like a great idea, but super long rides is kind of tough in old guys like me Having more female riders will also be good, i do not understand why we can not get more wifes and girlfriends involved Yep, extremely hard to please Everyone (impossible). When You first start a Ride and the number of Attendees is fairly small it's fairly easy to have Fun, and Everyone have a Great Time. As the numbers grow, the complaints grow, and pretty soon a lota' Folks start lookin' for New Ride Leaders/ Planners. I still feel it is best to have Ride Leaders with lotsa' riding experience, and lotsa' familiarity with the roads that are to be used. I also think it is best to keep "socializing" as a very important factor. If You lose some of these things, rides seem to drift away into oblivion...seen it happen.I hope if the Smokies Fall Ride takes New Directions using Newer Ideas that it still remains an Annual Fun Event for Everyone.....We have enjoyed it a lot every year in the past, even the massive amount of Trips up to Ride and Re-Ride Routes during the planning. I will post Pics of the New Cades Cove Road here soon. We rode the entire Loop last Saturday... ;D OK, here are a few Pics my Wife took from the back of the Trike...the yellow-lined Road is the one goin' to Cades Cove, the un-lined single lane with new concrete bridges is the New Loop Road....Really Nice.....The start of Rich Mountain Road.....Bear eating Termites, and later saw a Mom and Two Tiny Cubs......More Cades Cove Scenery, Picnic Area, and "Skuuterfeet" in the Cades Cove Creek...probably killed more fish than the Gulf Oil Spill... .....New Short Bill Harley Davidson Hat.....I'll be leadin' Rides at the TRIKE RALLY III in Maggie Valley North Carolina this week from Thursday thru Sunday....lota' Blue Ridge Parkway and feeder roads (Trikes from all over the USA)..... ;D ;D ;D

Sharron sent me an e-mail. Apparently this guy is coming to the ride: www.570wkbn.com/pages/pp_two_wheel_power.htmlNot sure who he is registered as in the forums. (on here or TR?) I have no doubt that we'll have some scratches from Rich Mountain Rd. You guys ever felt the "combined breaking system" on the Big Rucks.... Not really good for Gravel/dirt. That's why we will "split-up" on Friday. If you don't want gravel, returning to Docks via the paved route is a really good ride. I'm not going to call anybody a wimp for NOT going up Rich Mtn.

Rubik: Looking forward to hauling my Ruckus to the ride and meeting some of the guys on the forum. It would be interesting (and different) riding Deals Gap on something other than a sports bike. Thanks Wardie

!VERY IMPORTANT! I got this message from Sharron at Dock's Motel: -------------------------------- Just wanted to touch base with you to let you know that I need a cut off date of 07/31/10 for the price that I give of $35. After that date the price for the motel is $65. and cabins $85. for 2 persons. The reason is that weekend is my busiest week of the year, the fall colors and Saturday being the UT vs Alabama Football weekend. If you could post this so anybody that is thinking about coming will make their mind up. :-) Thanks, Sharron --------------------------------- So if you are planning to show up for the Fall Ride, now is the time to make the decision. For those who have never been, Dock's Motel gives us a great rate, and is very Ruckus friendly. There is a pool, and the river runs on the back side. I can't think of anyone who has been on the Smokies Rides that didn't enjoy it. (ok, except for maybe the rainy Saturday that time , but it was an adventure)
