Hey i'm new here n i need some help! I have an '03 ruck n yesterday the battery terminal cover for the positive terminal cracked in half n broke off from the battery. it will not stay on the battery terminal, preventing it from starting. if i hold it to the battery, it starts, but once i turn it back off n it loses contact, it's back to zero. also, the headlights are no longer turning on, idk if it's the same issue... to be more clear, it's the plastic piece at the end of the wire harness(#6 on diagram), where the big blue capacitor n a couple fuses plug in, n then connects to battery, there seams to be some evidance of a former break here that the previous owner soldered the piece directly to the battery connector. i think this is what broke... can anyone tell me what exactly i need to do to fix this whole issue? do i need a whole new wire harness or can i just get the separate part? is the headlight issue the same issue as the connector?? ARGH!!! thanks! mike

Mike, that sounds like an annoying and strange problem. Have you checked the fuses to see if that's why the headlights are out? Look carefully because sometimes the break in the fuse is just a hairline gap that you can miss. Actually pull the fuse out and look, rather than trying to look with the fuse in it's socket.
Getting an entirely new wiring harness would be expensive and a pain to install. I would look for other creative ways to solve this. Perhaps you can attach of bit of wire to the part that broke, and then run this wire to the battery terminal? Or maybe just get this re-soldered and be very careful with it.

I have had the same issue...positive battery connector broke. I did connect wires and it works (once in a while) but I want a permanent solution. I just need the aluminium piece that connects to the positive battery terminal. Any help would be appreciated.
I actually bought a brand new wiring harness but it didn't have the piece that I really needed. My solution is ebay or someone who maybe has that part.
