I've been dealing with a problem that required repeated removal of my carb and adjusting it too. Adjusting the idle mixture was a pain and considered slotting the screw so a regular screw driver could be used. After thinking it out, I decided to instead epoxy a screw head onto the mixture screw. I ended up using an allen set screw and use a ball-end allen wrench to do the adjustments...pretty simple and it works.

Sorry but my camera has a crappy macro and it would be too blurred to see anything.
It's actually pretty simple though...I epoxied a screw head to the end of the mixture screw. I was careful to not allow any cement to contact the threads. I used an allen set screw but just about any screw head would work but you need to be sure that it is smaller than the idle screw hole since the mixture screw does go below flush...
