Ok, so per another thread I would like to start adding on a few things to reach more of my scoot’s potential. Anyway, where I am at is:
2005 Ruckus 5300 miles
I’m 5’11’’ 165
Live/work/play at approx 5300 ft elevation
From the best that I can tell, currently I am getting:
39ish downhill
low 30’s on flats
low 20’s uphill
Currently I have:
Windshield
New, not stock tires (IRJs?--- tread pattern looks similar to the boopers)
Daytona rear spring shock (anyway to adjust this thing?)
Wheelbase extension
My goals:
Downhill---fine where I am
Flats, if possible get to 40-42 (obviously higher would be nice)
Uphill, are the high 20s out of the question?
I have:
time
Not a lot of money to blow ($200-$400 over a few months)
Are these reachable dreams? If so, what is the best way to go about it? I have a set of 6grm weights on order, but should I spring for a new variator too? If so, which one? I read like 12 pages on the various options but to be honest I was a bit lost, as I don’t consider myself a “big guy” and I don’t live at sea level so I didn’t see stuff that I could tell was directly applicable to me.
CDI? I hear people talk about hitting their limiter, but (and this is likely a dumb question) how do you know when you do? I haven’t got to the point where I hear any different noise/feel new vibes or anything like that...not sure if my top speeds are ‘cus I am hitting the limiter, or if this is just the mechanical limit of my set up (hope that makes sense). So, that being said, should I mess w/ the CDI, or save funds for other stuff?
Finally, I read about the blue clutch springs. Again, dumb question alert, how are these functionally different than just holding your break while revving and then letting go at take off? Some more pick up would be nice off the line as the old lady and her walker in the crosswalk is currently getting the jump on me.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
