I am a proud new owner of an 08 ruckus 49cc. I have day time running lights on my ruckus lol. I want a toggle switch to turn the lights off completely during the day to save battery juice. Does anyone have any ideas on how and where to pick up parts? I am not an electrician so youll have to dumb it down for me a bit, lol i have no idea if its easy hard or what not. Please-- any help?

I don't really think that's necessary. My '04's battery still seems to be running strong.

Oh, and supposedly the lights make you easier to see... you don't wanna make riding a scooter any more dangerous, do you?

Are these 'extra' lights? Many states require the head and tail lights to be on when on the road so you won't want to mess with the headlight circuit.

i have a switch for mine for when i just want to run the 2 55w foglights lol. i just put the switch in the wire for the high beams (white? i forgot). but its simple and hasnt given me any trouble. i guess just make sure you use a decent quality switch that can handle the amps.

all good advise..ive put switches on a couple of previous scooters. don't know the legality of no daytime lights, but i'd only turn em off if aux lights were in use. if your electrical system is in good working order theres no battery drain during opperation.

Don't screw with your DRL:
When my sis follows me on her ruck, she's VERY visible in my mirrors. Her BF however, with his keeway's 2 little city bulbs and single yellow-ish lowbeam, is almost invisible. if it wasn't for his horrible low beam, he wouldn't be visible at all unless I was actively searching.
Why would you spend time and money putting a switch on a bike when you get zero benefits and increased danger?

I actually want to do the same thing only I want to kill all the lights. Poaching the local golf courses at dusk is good fun.... the lights add to the risk factor x10 though.

I put a simple toggle switch, in the lowbeam wire, to the headlights. Got it at Radioshack. A no brainer. I do a lot of riding in the woods, or pokin around, on little side streets, at low speed, down around the lake, looking at the cottages. At low speed, 5 or 10 MPH, the lights get really dim, and the little generator can't keep up. And I don't need headlights out in the woods, during the day. I turn the lights on, whenever I'm out on the road, just to be seen. I can either flip the toggle switch, or just hit the high beams. My Ruckus is an 03, and I'm still on the original battery.

I to would like to be able to turn the lights off. I use my Ruckus as a trail bike during hunting season. It’s super quiet but with all the lights game can spot it 2 miles away.
