H'lo. A few weeks ago I put a Kitaco oil shock on the back of my Ruck, and though I'm happy with it (no more sore tailbone!), it bounces like a yo-yo when I go over a big bump. It's kinda making me sea-sick so I'd like to stiffen it up a bit.. it came set to the softest setting. Problem is I can't decipher the Japanese instructions on how to adjust it, beyond the "6mm" in the text pointing at a small hole on the spring adjuster at the top of the shock. Can anyone explain this to me..? Here's a URL to the page on Jiang Wayne: www.jiangwayne.com/scooter/p_i.php?i=128

It looks to me, and I probably wouldn't trust my opinion, but you would probably loosen the 6mm thing, and turn the shock above it in the corresponding direction with the arrows pointing to hard and soft. But, perhaps someone that knows what they're talking about will chime in.

Put a screwdriver or allen key in that hole for leverage and twist the ring.

I don't think there's a screw in there to loosen.. which is part of what has me puzzled. Put a screwdriver or allen key in that hole for leverage and twist the ring. I'll give that a try.. once the rain lets up. :)

I assumed it took a hex key or allen wrench.

You just have to twist the collar, but it's sometimes easier said than done. I made a tool to give me proper grip and leverage.

The rain finally let up, so I've adjusted the shock, as well as doing some preliminary work for a foot rest mod.
It was actually pretty easy to adjust, once I got past the fear of breaking it by giving it a good twist. Slipped an allen key into the hole to use for leverage and it wasn't a problem.
Thank you for the advice. :)

Glad to hear you got it figured out.

All that adjustment is actually doing is controlling preload on the spring. If your having bouncing problems then you need firmer rebound damping and I don't think that shock has adjustable damping.
