The Honda PS250 is not a novelty, but we never mentioned it here on Nihon Car & Bike, and since the manufacturer is releasing a new colour version, "Harvest Beige", for the Tokyo Motor Show, we thought it was a good occasion to write about this unusual scooter. It's part of the same family as the Zoomer that is available in Europe (for an exhuberant price for a 50cc, but anyway...), but then bigger, and we can't really call it a scooter, it looks like a crossing between a scooter, a stepper of the future and a CaterpillarĀ®... so it's very difficult to categorize this vehicle, which is not necessarily a bad thing, because it stands out from the masses. Honda itself calls it a Pick-Up scooter. It seems that its success in Japan is quite limited, could it be too extravagant for the Japanese? Or too expensive? Or just too much, over the top? We don't really think so, but this scooter has an undeniable styling, you like or you don't, but it does not offer what you would expect from a big-engined scooter (comfort, protection, storage capacity, ...). Despite the interesting ideas like the seat for 2 people that transforms into a real throne, it will be impossible to take it for a ride on the highway and exploit the engine completely. This did not stop Honda to present at the TMS 2 more evolved and designed 125 versions. The NP6-D and NP6-S came straight out of the heads of the young design team from Honda Japan.

I think this colour works pretty well for the Big R. A lot better than yellow. Army green would be sweet to see too though.

I had never seen a white Big R before. Had it been out for awhile in Japan? It's new to me, I guess because I never see them in pics from Japan. According to the article they are not big sellers there.

I'm not big on the beige, but the excess coloring on it, I like.

I'm with you on yellow Gary but do you think you can have too much yellow? What does your analyst say about it?

I'm not so sure I like all that beige; especially on the front nose peice. Had it been a desert camo scheme, might be more acceptable. I have the yellow, but it keeps rubbing off onto my saddlebags. Faulty paint job no doubt. Never seen powdercoated paint rub off onto articles. I like the, yellow because it stands out in traffic. Would be neat to have different side panels to change the color scheme when you feel it needs to look different. I'd like it in camo, both desert and woodland or the new digital camo.

Here's one that is a bit far away, sitting on the lawn:

Yeah, on the one I was looking at, I noticed a couple of places where the paint was rubbed off.

I call my yellow 04 - Velveeta. Would have preferred Ferrari's Fly Yellow. I agree with you on this, the Mini and the Stang are perfect shades of yellow. But the Ruck's yellow is very Tim the Tool Man manly, like a Tonka truck.
