Coming up on my first oil change at 600 miles. Owners manual says to use only oils that do not have enegery conserving in the application circle. I've been using synthetics almost since they came out in my cars. Does anybody know why I should not use synthetics? The manual says it will damage my engine and transmission. I don't understand why it would damage my bike. Maybe thicker viscosity fossil oil is better for the trans? Just curious and would appreciate any insight anybody has.

There is only an issue with synthetic oils when there is a standard transmission that is integral with the crancase on a standard bike, and then it can effect the manual clutches. The Ruckus uses belts and not gears. I have been using synthetic oil in my PS250 for months now with only good results: faster acceleration and improved gas mileage..

I bought an old police car and the guy who owned it worked in a lab that tested oil. He changed it every, 800 miles. Said the polyemers in the oil get sheared by the bearings. Oil looked clean; but, under a microscope it showed the shearing. This was his account. The car has 185,000 miles on it, now. It still runs strong, I don't treat it to the 800 mile oil changes any longer; but, considering it for the scooter. I have near a 1000 miles on it, my third week of ownership! Will probably switch to synthetic oil after the next oil change. I read somewhere that it's best to break it in with regular oil, then switch. Plan on changing the oil at, 1400 miles. At, 2200 miles will switch to synthetics. I put in an ounce or so, of Marvel Mystery Oil into the crankcase with all oil changes.

Tedsmini What brand of Synthetic do you use in the Big Ruckus? I use Mobil 1 15W50 in my Goldwing and I know the Ruckus calls for 10W30 just wondering what you used. Thanks
