Well I sold my SV650 last night, the guy is coming on Wednesday to pick it up. Saturday I'm going to go and look at a Yamaha C³. There are no Ruckus-es advertised in the bike trader does anyone here know if there are any in stock at dealers in the Hamilton/GTA area?

There are quite a few new riders from the Hamilton area with Ruckus's...maybe give DeWildt Honda a call and the other Honda bike dealers in the area. I know KW Honda up here in Waterloo has a couple 07's in.
Whatever scoot you get, you should sign up for the MadBastardRally.com. It's a crazy 800km/24 hour ride this June and they'll be a lot of small scoots there.

well, I know I may disappoint many if you, but I got a Yamaha C³. I drove it an instantly fell in love with it. I hadn't found a ruckus around here to test drive so I had nothing to compare it to, (other than an '03 SV 650). I pick it up Monday. I got it from Performance Cycle in Cambridge. Seems like a great shop, they knocked 300$ off MSRP right away. btw I got the blue one.
cheers!

P.S. I'll be thinking about the M.B. rally... It sounds like a blast and a pain in the butt all at once. reminds me of my trip to PEI on my ninja zx-6 3 years ago...

Well, we might all be biased around here, but it's good you found a scoot that you like. And besides, it's not like you got a Vespa or some dirty 2-stroke. Keep us posted.

I'd love to blast by ya on my Ruckus ;D There's gonna be a good crowd (35 registered riders and counting) and lots of cool scoots. It'll be a blast.

well I picked it up tonight and put the first 20km on it. it sure is a blast scooting around town. the only downside so far is that it bogs down to 35km/h coming up the escarpment (slightly slower than I had anticipated... was hoping for at least 40km/h). I love how light scooters are vs. motorcycles... great for zipping around corners.
I don't know how anyone could ride a scooter for over 12 hours though... I'm sure my back would be sore after the first hour.
cheers!

Yeah that's one of the cons of buying a Yamaha I don't know how anyone could ride a scooter for over 12 hours though... I'm sure my back would be sore after the first hour. Does the C3 have a bad seat? I've already done 16 hours on my Ruckus (Ottawa to Waterloo) in 2 degree weather so this rally should be a breeze. Hurry up and sign up. There are quite a few C3's signed up.

So I wandered into my local Yammy dealer yesterday evening because I wanted to order a few brake line bits and they're a lot closer to my place than any other dealer. While I was there I noticed they had a blue C3 so I had a perusal at that.
The first thing I noticed is that they were asking only $2400 for it (they had it marked down a few hundred) whereas locally you're not doing better than $2650 or so for a Ruckus (keep in mind these are Canadian prices, the Ruckus MSRP is $2799). Either that means they're not moving any or they're just undercutting the Ruckus to make sales. I'm hoping it's the former.
As for comments on the actual bike. What really stuck me was how absolutely massive the rear end is. This thing has one heck of a ghetto booty. The upside of that is the internal storage space which I'm very jealous of but they really should have cut off the back 6"-12" behind the seat. The C3's seat really does look like a cooler on wheels and it's not only long, it's also very wide. I didn't sit on it because I wasn't sure if I was allowed but it looked similar to riding a horse...it's that wide.
Other than that, the other things I didn't like where how the fork legs go all the way up...I just think that looks funny. As well, the dash looks like it was stolen from the Zuma...it's just got a dated 90's look for a brand new scoot.
On the positive side, the blue is nice shade, that storage would be awesome and it's got a 3 valve engine. Oh, the speedo only went up to 60km/hr (37mph) so I imagine I can't do better than that.

You didn't sit on it?
I'll tell you what they told me at my Yamaha dealer in Statesville (which also is the Honda and Suzuki dealer), "we're not the Harley dealership, we won't yell at you for sitting on the bikes"

DD: I got mine for 300 off the MSRP, the salesguy said they had already sold 4 so far this year, from that I'd infer that they're just being agressive on their pricing to sell as many as possible...
The only thing I don't like about the looks is the rear end, it is quite massive... It has no problem burying the needle on level ground... I'd guess in the neighbourhood around 65km/h is where it is topping out.
cheers!

You'd think they'd atleast make the seat longer or something to use that space a bit more. Even with 6" chopped off the rear end it's still light years ahead of the Ruckus in terms of protected storage.

I actually haven't spent much time in dealerships other than my local Honda one and I know they don't like people sitting on the bikes so I wasn't sure what the proper ettiquette was.

Well, maybe folks are different when you aren't in the south... good to hear if they're aggressive in seling the things. Nice to see people tryin' to sell scooters, rather than just keeping them in the back...

That is weird, the only reason to go to a scooter dealership is to sit and try to see how you feel on the byke I would never buy on looks alone

Oh come on guys....I wasn't going to buy it I just wanted to examine it so I could explain to potential buyers on here why the Ruckus is better. I didn't need to sit on it because I gave it the benefit of the doubt that the seat was uncomfortable
