When I was just a lad I really wanted on of these. You could buy the engine kit and bolt it to a Schwinn or Columbia (now called beach cruisers). The company halted production in the 60's and started in '39. In 1999 a company in Texas started making a retro model. It's 150cc's and develops about 2HP. It starts by pedalling and releasing the compression release. It is real stone edge technology, a side valve that accomplishes adjustment by grinding the valve stems. They now have an auto clutch, nothing like ours, just v belts and tension pullies and a small centrifugal clutch. Brakes aren't inpressive but it's not really meant for traffic. But I have a lot of 2 lane roads. It gets 120mpg and about 25-to 30 mph. I guess the real reason I want one is I used to dream about having one when I was a kid. It's not practical but that's not my cryteria. It's pure nostalgia. Flame away

There is no indication that someone is going to drop this down my chimney. These are just thoughts that ramble through my mind ;D

That thing is SWEET!! There is guy that has one here in FoCo and I always wondered what it was. One question, 150cc = 2hp, Really?

I had one when around 1960. Bought it used for $35.00. It was on a Schwin Cruiser. That thing would fly! Ther is no other sound like it. I saw some at the Scooter meet in Portland Ind. this past Summer. Sure brought back memories when I heard them running.

I'm old enough to remember them, and rode a couple. The Western Auto store in Winchester sold them. You could buy the whole Whizzer bike or a conversion to put it on yours. A friend of mine two streets up in my subdivision bought a conversion. My Daddy (the local resident mechanic) had to help his Dad put it on. Lotta' fun.................................. ;D
