Yesterday I rode my Ruckus to Alabama and was met there by my wife and b in l to pick up my wife's birthday present, her new Vino 125. She has been riding my Ruckus home from work while I take her car to pick up the kids. We work at the same place and I get off earlier than she. I ride it to work in the morning and she drops off the kids on her way in.
She recently acquired her motorcycle license and was told by her instructor that she was the only person who ever finished the course and said they couldn't wait to get back on a scooter! ;D
If Honda built something other than the stylish new Elite 80 we would have one. She wanted something with more power than the Ruckus but not very heavy. She can't handle my Honda Helix - yet.
The Yamaha was her choice with more power and not that much more weight. We left Gulf Shores about 9:45am and traveled on both empty county roads in the country and super busy 4 lanes filled with tourists. Please hurry back winter!! The Ruckus' top speed of 38 was fine as she had to keep the speed down and vary it on the way home. We made a few stops and had a good time.
We traded scoots with only a couple of miles to travel. The Vino seat was a welcome respite for about a minute. I was developing a case of monkey butt. When we arrived home the Ruckus had traveled exactly 100 miles, the Vino had 54. It was soooo much fun. I was afraid that my wife might be sick of riding as she doesn't put up with discomfort for long but she was fine and had an interesting idea I'll share with you after I give you my impression of the Vino.
And now, time for lunch! Dang, closed! Notice the Christmas lights still hanging.
The Vino was slightly buzzy on the grips and floorboard. Pickup was good, didn't care for the engine sound. Kind of putt-putty. It looks good and my wife likes it, but when we traded scoots and I rode it home, there was no doubt in my mind that the Ruckus is a ton more fun, better leg room on the floorboard, better handling and a better sound. When we pulled into the driveway I was happy to get off of any scoot and sit on the couch. My wife was smiling and said, "The Ruckus is just soo much FUN!" That's the bottom line, Ruckus wins, hands down.
Ohh, the interesting idea? Later in the evening she said, "You know, I can see a time down the road when we could tie some camping gear on the scooters and go somewhere." God I love that woman!! Who knows, she may become the ULTIMATE RUCKUS CHICK!
