I rode a 2004 Elf DRAGSTER by Italjet. DANG! The thing is the finest scooter I have ever been on. Does 90Kmh stock. suspension by BMW. I want, but can't have. They can't be imported into Canada.... Ruckass

I didn't try that hard but I couldn't find a good pic or specs on google. How many cc is it? If it's a 50cc that's pretty impressive (especially if it's a 4-stroke). I'm guessing it's a 80cc.

I've heard from local scooter shops in the bay area, that use to carry Italjets, but they don't anymore because they thought their quality sucked. Did it seem like a quality machine?

I checked the post on Ebay and it is a 2 stroke engine, however italjet is the scooter equivalent of a 60s and 70s British car (fun to drive, but the electric systems are awful) it does look good and probably have collector value, i rather have the reliability of the ruckus, we just need more power and better brakes

Here are some pics of the Elf Dragster (Italjet). www.geocities.com/easysupplies/italjet.html I think its an amazing looking bike. I actually got nods and waves from guys riding speedbikes. The handling is very impressive and the wheels really hug the road in corners. (take a close look at the front wheel steering assembly). Ruckass

I was looking for a dragster a few years ago, but all of the local dealers said that they we all poorly built, so they stopped carrying them. They had I believe up to a 150cc motor.

It looks like that bike would place you with your face to the ground if u hit it to hard with the front brakes. Looks unstable.

Well you're wrong, it insn't unstable. Like I said before, it handles like a street speed bike! And Chanito the one I rode was a 50cc motor. I've also read that it is one of if not THE most popular scooters selling in Europe right now with TONS of aftermarket parts available. I haven't heard anything about the wiring though, that might be something to look in to. The price tag is pretty cheap too, somewhere around $3000 US.

I like the suspension design. It looks good to me. However I read that that bike (50cc version) goes only 35mph stock (57km/hr) and it can be modified/derestricted to go 45-50mph (73-80km/hr). Quote from italjetdragster.com -> "Standard 50cc Dragsters are capable of around 35mph on average" www.italjetdragster.com/unleash.htmlAre you sure you rode a 50cc?

It's from like 1999. That's why there are a lot of aftermarket parts. They made 50cc two-strokes and bigger four-strokes up to either 150 or 180cc's. It was the bike that Italjet put in their adertisements as well as the velocifero, which was one of the first vespa copies. Actually these are the two scooters that made me think twice about scooters. The problem was that the 180cc was not available here. There are some cool german sites for the dragster.

And I only took it for a short ride (it isnt insured here and never can be) I went on an uphill ride over the Granville bridge and hit 80 kmh. That was the only open stretch as I'm in the downtown core. Ruckass

it is true, 50cc 2 strokes can be very fast even in standard form.
my other scoot is a standard(apart from leo vince exhaust) yamaha aerox and will top out at,at the mo,at 75mph=120km/h i am not kidding you! and is water cooled.
no big bore.no big carb or fancy stuff, the leo is just replacment for original, which went rusty.
if you do not believe me,go to streetfire.net and search scooter and find the french guy starting wheelies at 60mph.nutter.
but the only bike i want to ride all the time is my zoomer.

Yeah...simple minds succomb to the power drug but intelligent, sophisticated riders are there to enjoy the ride and prefer the style, fuel economy and quiet ride of a Zoomer. You just can't enjoy the scenery at 75mph with a 2-stroke screaming like you can at 30mph with the rich burble of a 4-stroke.
