Im thinking about buying an 86 Suzuki fa50 off a guy in my neighborhood and it is a 50 cc and max speed is about 25 on flat. Now i hear alot about 50 cc mopeds that go 40-45 mph. So why does this one not do that? Is it jsut cause its kinda old and technology is better nowadays? Im not sure about the weight but it doesnt seem heavy enough to make that big of a speed difference from other 50 or 49 cc. It only has 2000 miles on it and sounds like it runs pretty good. And is there a way to increase the speed? I would be really interested in the bike if there were little improvements i could do to the bike myself. So let me know all the things I could possibly do. For speed mainly but anything less would be GREAT too. Thanks. John

Two strokes are mostly limited by the intake and exhaust. Those motors don't have lots of parts available.
That's all I know about that.
