Well after posessing the ruckus for a little more then 12 hours, me and my brother tigermon decided that we must do some kind of modification. heh.
We took apart the gearbox and put in a kitaco pulley from a 94 elite, aftermarket pulley and put it in the ruckus with 3 10 grams weights. The performance increase was phenomenal. We were able to gain tons more acceleration and acutally get the thing to go over 40 with my 225 pounds of lard on it, which is to say the least, amazing. If any more details are warrented i think tigermon can answer your questions. That is All! ;D

Well, the pulley has actually been sitting in my basement for about 5 years. It was on an '95 elite 50 engine that I had built up to put in an '87 elite 50s. Since the tranny on the the elites and the ruckus are so similar, we decided to experiment. So first we started swapping out the roller weights, did'nt get much result with those. FYI, the roller weights the that come on the Ruckus are about 44 gr. total, a bit over 7gr each. We felt that as is, the weights a abit to high for a adult rider. The weights that were in the old elite engine were 10 gr. each so we ran the ruckus with three of those, totaling 30gr. At this setting, the weights were a bit to light, we got better acceleration but was losing quite a bit on the high end. I think running 6 6.5-7.0 gr. weights will work well.
Next we decided to swap out the variator and ramp plate from the elite. Bingo! the Ruckus immediately felt more responsive and 2-stroke like. At this point we a re using the stock ruckus weights but we'll try the lighter ones as soon as we get them. If any one needs to order a pulley. Either wait for the BattleScooter store to open or contact any scooter shop in Hawaii. Nicad and I both used to live there but we are in Seattle now. The 50cc scene in Hawaii is absolutely outrageous. I've seen a 50cc engine that was bored and stroked to 104cc and then watercooled. Mind you this was on an elite 50 frame. Very high power/weight. There used to be groups rides of about 60+ peolple riding over mountain passes there. Then the cops started cracking down. Anyways, back to the topic. The Hawaii shops will all have pulleys that will work. Just tell them its for a 95 elite 50 engine, which is known as the DIO engine there. You will also need to buy a ramp plate and some weights as well.

Tigermon, Thanks for all the good info, What brought you to the main land? Pac northwests allright I guess. I lived in Eugene and Portland for a few years myself, kind of miss it actually. If your craving some polynesian goods, you gotta try the " uwajimaya" www.uwajimaya.com/retail.html. All sorts of food from the Pac Rim. Later.

Is the kitaco pulley faster because it uses a better ratio (which could be achived by playing with the length of the spacer in the stock setup) or because its more efficient with the engines power?
