Sounds right...I think you just cut off the connector and solder it in. I followed the Battlescooter how to but last time I checked the pics there were down.

After installing the cdi I would just like to say that people make this subject way more complicated than it is. I mean its this simple, green wire goes to a ground, red/green goes to a keyed power source (in other words it only has power when the key is on), the blue/yellow wire goes to the matching one that just hangs inside the battery box and then the other two yellow and black wires go to the coil. Then if you want to run a tach you just hook up the ground wire from the tach to the same ground as the cdi, then the power wire from the tach gets hooked up to the same keyed power source as the cdi and then the signal wire for the tach gets tapped into the blue/yellow wire. If I'm wrong feel free to slap me, but I would really like to see someone do a write up this simple on the cdi for the 06 and up.

So I am trying to do install and the Jiangwang intstrucitons dont make any sense to me. What is the black wire I have no kitaco black wire. He also say the red green is useless? From above comment I have disconnected green wire attached to existing green ground now do I take the "useless red green wire still attached to the coupling minus the solid green wire and attach to a keyed power source and if so what would a key power source look like? Thanks confused

I need some help in deciphering the many thingies you folks write about? Whats a CDI and what does it do? [glow=red,2,300] CDI stand for Capacitor Discharge Ignition, and it replaces the stock unit (which is part of the ECM or computer) and allows you more rpms as the stock unit limit the rpms on the ruckus [/glow]Can you put a tach on the Ruck (09) ? Sales and instructions ?. [glow=red,2,300] Yes you can, any small engine tach that can go as high as 10k rpms is OK, i like the autometer Jr Draggters but is pricey at around 120 dollars, you can get cheaper units, usually digital for a lot less[/glow] highest machnical skills ....key insertion only!!! LOL Mahalo (Thanks) Kamano Take care[glow=red,2,300][/glow]

Besides elminating the 8850 RPM redline, the CDI also bypasses the throttle position sensor (which allows you to use aftermarket carbs) and it advances the ignition timing slightly which gives you a hair more power.

"Could use a little help on this subject. A Kitaco cdi has come into my hands and its not the "plug and play" version. The only difference seems to be that there isn't an extra connector that plugs into the green wire, red/green wire on the cdi to go to the ruckus. From the pictures above the green wire appears to be the ground wire and the red/green appears to go to a power source. Can someone tell me if I'm right or wrong so I don't fry this thing." [image] I'm looking at the same problem - did you ever find a solution?
