O.K, we were sliding the ruckus around on the grass an my friend broke the shield half off with his foot, So while he was offering to buy a new plastic bit I started looking around the garage and found this piece of 4" aluminum tubing. We cut a shield out and bolted it up, kind of cool silver but I think I’ll shoot it flat black. The red screws are from a car stereo installation kit. It’s just another funny idea, plus I didn’t have to go to the Honda shop. Cheers, Von

sorry fox but the piece of tubing I had was just long enough for two, the extra shield went on my friends ruckus. you could also make one out of copper, brass, steel and maybe even plexiglas.

Dear Abe flattery will get you everything, unless something else breaks I believe my Ruckus R&D is done. Although a shock would be cool, then there’s the bars & forks…..o.k. that’s it, I’m done. Abe you are more than welcome to post any images I have and I am going to bob my friend’s fender so if you want I’ll shoot the processes and email it to you. Cheers Von

I did a heat shield very similar to this. It's odd, it almost looks like a picture of my scoot when i saw this. Made me do a little double-take. I even have the bobbed fender like you. I made mine out of some sheet stainless steel i had. Mine comes down a little further then yours, curving almost to the bottom of the muffler. I brushed the stainless and it looks real nice. The hardest part was just trying to bend the sheetmetal into a nice curve. Wouldn't have been a problem if i had some metal rollers, but i don't. I had to just keep working it by hand. After all that work, i'm probably not going to keep it. I got bigger and better plans for a heat shield now. ^^

Yeah, it did take a while, but working on stuff like that is kinda relaxing, so it's all cool. As for selling it, most likely it will go on one of my friend's ruckie. Sorry for the poor photo quality. I went out and bought a $10 digicam just so i could post a few pics, and that's the best you can hope for for $10 ^^ My plans for the new shield are this... I have some small, very cute flame decals on the battery cover. i plan to cut out the stainless into flame shapes and lightly paint it to fade from red to yellow to the natural stainless from the tips inward. I'm hoping to still get the brushed stainless texture to show through the paint. It should look pretty cool. i'm also going to make a small, matching pod filter splash gaurd on the otherside to match. I got all the stuff to do it yesterday and work starts on it tomarrow. =P

Go to a Hardware Store such as Home Depot and buy a large diameter section of Plastic PVC Drain Pipe, and split it....You can usually get it in White, Black, or sometimes Gray.....
