It really depends on your climate etc. but I'd say roughly at 80 main jet but you'll still need a larger slow jet so your midrange is okay. Otherwise you'll still have noticable lag around 10-20mph I'd guess.

Hey, what ever happened to that 'dial-a-jet' post (off the top of your head)? Know anyone who tried it? Know what I'm talking about? There was a post that had a link to a mod that allowed you to install this dial-a-jet deal, then you could adjust your jetting on the fly, more or less...

Hmm....I guess not. A few BR riders have been using it with apparent success but I've never heard of anyone on a LR trying it. Personally I've gotten pretty used to swapping jets and my jettings pretty good now so I don't feel like adding this hassle to the mix. Someone should try it though.

I did a neat little job of opening up my air box and BAM, all I could do is Idle...
So off to the store to get a bigger main jet. I went from a the stock 75 to a #82 (or was it 83?).
My take-off is a bit peppier now.
This all started a while back when I put a Kitaco exhaust on and that actually reduced my top end, so I figured it was time to start messing with the air and fuel going into the engine.
I havent gotten out to do any serious riding with it due to the weather. But the little riding I did around the block shows I certainy have a wee bit more take off. I may close the airbox back up a bit just to see what happens. I will post it if I can offer anything definitive.
Seems to run better than before though.

A digital camera is on my X mas wishlist.
I have driven the scooter to work once now since I rejetted. My max speed was about 48 kph.
When I got to work I took the tape off the hole I enlarged in the airbox and it still wouldnt run, even with the bigger jet. So I tapped up the hole with the exception of a small gap and I could hit 55 on the way home. It still felt like it was bogging down at 55 though.
I used to be able to do 60 - 65 without any trouble in the flats....
I am thinking about just going back to stock. This is more trouble than I bargained for. But winter IS approaching and I WILL have times where I will have nothing better to do than tinker.....
I think I will have to play alot more with the jets. But its so frustrating. All I wanted was to keep the same speed I had stock, and get a cooler muffler....
Ooh what a mess!

Don't feel too bad, I'm in the same boat. I have to jet for my pipe, and am debating opening up the airbox and using a B&S air filter while I'm at it.

First attempts at jetting are always frustrating. In my opinion, it's not worth opening this can of worms for the small potential gain....if you are going to get into rejetting and spend all that time and frustration then you may as well make it worth it and be doing the big bore piston or something. It's always good to learn so it's great that you guys are doing this but don't expect much even when you do get it running okay....I would say you want a main jet around 85 for this to run about as well as stock.

Opening up the pipe will add a lot more air than the morwaki but it adds it at low and midrange RPMs because at the top end other restrictions (the valves) prevent you from flowing more air. It should run okay with about an 85 jet. If it stumbles off the line with that you can toss in a larger (38 instead of 35) slow jet or go up to a bigger main jet but a bigger main jet will likely make you pretty rich up top and hinder your milage. My suggestion is a 38/85 combo.

are there any thoughts about the possible problems of using a cone type filter at this time of year, with the wet weather and all.asmopposed to the o.e type set-up?
my ksr gave me major hassle getting home a few weeks ago with its cone filter in heavy rain.

you should buy a jet kit from BSS.

A 38/85 is a nice starting point but you really need to learn how to read a spark plug so you can fine tune it yourself. A jet kit from battlescooter will enable you to do that....I recommend the one with smaller increments (ie. 78,80,82,etc) over the larger increment kit. If you do order the jets from your Honda dealer then you need to ask them to look up the stock jet part number and that will end in the following: ....0750
Then ask them to enter the same part number but change the '75' to '85' so the end of the part number reads '....0850'. That should come up as a valid part number.

Will it make the Rucky faster with an open airbox mod and correct jetting???

As I hear it, the data is inconclusive. Everything I've heard is seat of the pants not dyno'ed.
