Welcome to the new 'How-To' section. Please post about what how-to's you'd like to see. Some important how-to's that we are currently missing are discription of how to rejet your carb and also a how to for installing metro gears, installing an aftermarket intake (included dealing with all the little hoses), eventually a big bore piston install, a brake light install etc. There's a ton of them so feel free to pipe up and suggest some or make a contribution to this forum and create one.

I want to add Chanito's home made intake mod but I'm having trouble finding it. Anyone know where it is? Maybe it's not in the tech part of this forum...

I thought it was under aftermarket parts, or performance ideas a ways back

Guess I'll put a search in in a bit.

As soon as I get my variator tool from you DD my buddy and me are going to film a how-to variator install. I know there are a few on here already but maybe a video how-to will help some people out? I will do the same for a shock as soon as I find one that I want.

A video how to would be awesome. The install is quite easy if you know what you're doing but if you haven't a clue then it's easy to mess up. This would be an awesome resource.
For the shock, check out the White/Gold Posh Industries one from JiangWayne.com/Scooter. It's expensive but amazing.

How-to for adjusting the valves, jetting, and handle bars would be awesome

There is a how-to for the valves but it's not that great. I agree one with pictures would be a lot better. If someone doesn't do that soon I can probably get to it in a couple weeks. Actually doing the job is easy but it can be confusing doing it the first time.
Jetting is definately a good one to have. Anyone want to take on this responsibility?
Switching to aftermarket bars is surprisingly tedious so yeah it would be good to have one here too. There are so many cables/wires you need to unplug etc. Volunteers?

And a Dio conversion too please

That would be nice to have but are you actually gonna do the Dio conversion? The Dio conversion doesn't actually seem very difficult except for maybe the disk brake. The fork legs are just 2 bolts each, the rims just require going to a shop to get your tires changed and then 1 or bolts bolts to re-attach them.

Sorry I didn't notice the How-To section ... the mechanically challenged among us will need a how-to install and get up and running and tuned instruction set for the new piston kit ... boring et al ....... with Dandy Dan performance report ..... Thanks!

The valve adjustment, just post up the service manual one, its very straightforward, nothing you can really do damage to the engine with, if you cant calculate measurements, you shouldnt be trying to adjust the valve gaps anyways, the whole 5 mins or so it takes to measure them, then off to get the new ones, pop em in...... Its practically idiot proof... you cant stuff too big of a shim in there b/c the rocker arm wont go overtop, and if its too loose, you just get the ticking and have to do it up again. The only way to damage the engine, as far as i can see, is if you do something stupid like loose a shim in the casing and fire up the engine in which case id be forced to label you a NBTH mechanic and you deserve to pay the $100/hr for the repairs...

Dropping a shim down into the lower engine would suck...I don't know if I'd immediately tear apart the engine to find it or just hope it works it way to the oil screen or something.

Maybe but once you've seen in the lower part you'll realize things are pretty complicated down there and there's a good chance you can't just shake it back out....plus cold oil is pretty sticky...it'd probably be stuck somewhere. I'd probably get one of those magnetic retrievers and poke that down where the chain is and try to pick it up that way. If that didn't work I'm not sure what I'd do...one guy said once his mechanic dropped one in and couldn't get it so he left it and there's been no problems so far...risky though.

One lazy mechanic, id be ripping through there trying to find it, that little sucker could wreak havoc
