Hey there... I just joined and was wondering if any large Ruckus riders get laughed at. I don't have a Ruckus yet, but have to get one now after seeing one at my local Honda dealer. I weigh in at 240 lbs. I'm wondering if I'll be greatly dissappointed with performance without mods. I assume I'll have to pick up a new shock to support my big butt. Will the little guy have enough power for me? I'll almost always be on 50 kph roads (35mph, I think). Thanks.

I was in upstate PA hill country during the summer and ran into a fat bastard riding a Metropolitan (same powertrain as the Ruckus). He told us that it hauled his girth up and down all the hills no problem. It did, however, look as though he was riding with minimal suspension. ;D

Since you made mention of a larger size butt, you may come to the conclusion that I did. The guy that designed the Ruckus seat is not the same guy that designed MY seat. So the Ruckus seat had to change. You can see my replacement seat on the tech page.. ....refered to as a tractor seat on a yellow Ruck. Have ridden for over 2 hours with this new seat without getting Tired Butt Syndrome. Seat was $19.99 plus another set of hinges & sleeves from the ronayres.com link on the home page of this site, & a 11 by 12 quarter inch aluminum plate to mount the seat on. My travel area is mostly flat, so performance doesn't seem to suffer from my weight. I will be changing the rear shock to one a bit longer & more heavy duty.

Thanks for the info. I don't think I have a particularly large "edit profanity"... I'm built more like a football player. 6', 240lbs. I'll definitely keep that seat in mind.
