How many of you use this great rig to commute on and how far do you ride? How does this convert to miles per year and how has the maintenance costs been?

I ride my ruckus to work every day, is a 4 and a half mile ride one way, most of it is in US1 wich is a main street and i keep the scooter at max speed for most of the ride just to keep up with the traffic, so far i had it for about three monthse put 500 miles on it and no problems so far, i average 85 miles per gallon and i love the quietness of the four cycle engine, and once in a while i cross somebody in a two cycle and the smell of the oil make super glad i bought the ruckus, they do have more pick up but we get them in terminal speed. yes i love it.

Ride my Ruck 2, 3, or 4 days a week...depending on what errands I have to run or if I have an evening meeting to go to. It's 18 & 1/2 miles from my house to work--I spend my days in a dump truck...18 wheeler type. Fuel milage gets close to 100 if I keep it to around 35. Push it toward 40 & I get about 92. Don't ride if it's raining. Safety factor. Most of the way I have 50-65 traffic with a fair amount of big trucks. At 5:30 in the morning my speed is just too different. Always wear a safety vest...like the guys on the highway construction jobs. I wanna be seen.

I am really suprised so few people use their Ruckus for commuting - especially in the cities!

I use mine everyday to get to my classes at college. I live about 3 miles from campus with alot of traffic between, so I weave around backups and always get in the front at the redlights. Then I park right outside the building at the bikerack instead of fighting thousands of cars for a decent spot. I finally got caught by a thunderstorm today though.. somebody tell me what are some good rainpants and jacket for motorcycle riding in heavy rain.

I use it (almost) every day. To go to work (35 km round trip) and school (40 km round trip). I'm so sick of public transportation that I use the scoot all the time. By the way I don't have a car yet.. But when I will .. good bye bus pass!

magnolia - downotwn seattle. A good 4 miles thrugh heavy fast traffic. The thing is absolutley beautiful in the city, and the looks you get? priceless. I wear yellow rain covers by helly hansen. i also wear a Corazzo riding jacket. its made out of codura and is completely water resistant. here is a link to the jacket: www.metroscoot.com/customer/product.php?productid=16152&cat=255&page=1pricey, but it is one of the only jackets designed with armor for scooter/moped riders. -Ian

I just got mine, but I plan on using it to commute. I live about 3 miles from the college campus where they make you park about a mile away if you drive...but if you take a scooter you can lock it up to the bike lock right next to the door. Yeah. I've been using my bicyle for about a month now, but somedays it's just too hot or too rainy or too <insert excuse here> to go. So I'm really looking forward to having that alternative so I don't have to bike or drive (then walk a mile anyway).
