Hello All, My name is Tariq and I just purchased a red 03 Ruckus last week. My dad has an Acura RL, I have an Accord as does my brother, and we mow our lawn with a Honda. It was only natural that I got one of these. I love this thing!
Anyways, I put about 75 miles on mine and then I rode my buddies. He has an 04 yellow that I rode to Wrigley Field this last weekend. I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm getting a lower top speed on the 04. About a 5mph difference. My red one will hit a little under 40 on a flat surface while the yellow just brakes the 35 mph barrier. It's not a huge difference but the 04 does feel restricted. Anyone else notice this or is it just with these 2?

Maybe! Stricter emmisions?
Nicad on here was saying his 04 only does 36 on flat.
My 03 does 39-40 on flat with my massive 120 pounds of self on it.

You're forgetting to mention wind speed and direction

You're forgetting to mention wind speed and direction Very true! With such a light bike that can be a major factor.

You're right I didn't mention that. The numbers I'm giving are on a level surface with little to no wind. Going uphill and downhill my 03 was faster as well. I don't want to make it seem like there's a big difference but it was something that I noticed while driving the 04. Again, I'm only comparing 2 bikes and I don't know if this holds true for all Ruckus scooters. I put about 25 miles on the yellow 04 that day and it's something that defenitely stood out. I would say the exact mph difference that I noticed was 4mph.

I have an '03 and noticed a performance difference after 500 - 700 miles of break-in. Did the 04' have fewer miles. Bob

Frosty, What performance difference did you notice after 500-700 miles? Mine has slowed a bit (valves???) and now cruises at 37 where as it went 38/39 when new. Is this what you noticed as well? - Dan

OOOPPS-Meant my speedometer. Yes-on a flat with no wind-I hit 40MPH according to the speedo with no problem. My husband went riding with me, and I asked him to check his speedo when I topped out-and his read 40MPH as well.

We've only had our Ruckus a week- I have just 76 miles on it- It's a red 03 and we can peg the speedometer on the flat, but can't seem to climb much over 30 going uphill--
Sure wish it were just a bit faster!
