I've seen questions about a back fire at 40ish mostly down hill. It's because your getting the scoot to max RPM. The gearing is actually set up pretty good. It's almost too low but you wouldn't know it unless you go full throttle down hill. It was my fav when my Ruckus was stock You can shave a little of the variator spacer to increase you top speed. More can be found under "stock modifications" It's a good idea for people to get a "tiny tach" or some type of tachometer. The little motor may sound like it's barely turn'n but it is

pretty close to 8,000RPM. I can't tell you exactly because I messed with the gearing before I got the tach. sorry
