thinking about getting one of these for my son, (and me ), anyway I saw in another thread some stuff about valve adjustment. how often is this necessary and what other maintance issues do you have to deal with. I currently own a BMW 1150 GS so I would like to NOT have another bike that requires costly regular maintnance ;D. I'm thinking of buying this thing this weekend as his birthday is next wednesday, so any help or comments from the forum would be VERY helpful. BTW. price quoted out the door with tags, tax and registration for a new 04 yellow ruckus is $1841.00 does thats sound good to yall

Hey Rusty, Maintainence on a Ruckus is really pretty lite. But with any small engine the basics mean alot to the engines longevity. Don't confuse these guy's constant need to tweak another MPH out of their machine for necesary maintainence. For a lot of us it's a hobby. If you follow the onwers manual, the maintainence intervals are fairly generous. It is really an easy to maintain scooter. They seem to be quite bullet proof. The price sounds right. frosty

Ya get it ;D I'm the one who posted the valve adjust thing. I haven't read the reponses yet. Mine was out of wack, now I don't know if it started that way or what. I wanted to get input from other people. I put my Ruckus through very extreme use for 320miles straight. The Ruckus drank some water and all kinds of torture. Frosty is right, do the manual recommended work and it should run forever! LA cycle in CA has $1700 out the door and I've seen $750 off MSRP at other places but don't know the OTD price. I got mine OTD, when they came out in April, for $2100. I had to have it so I had to pay the NEW NEW price
