Just curious what you all wear for safety equipment when riding your Ruckus? I wear a Leather Jacket with CE armor, and a pair of Fieldsheer Titanium Air Overpants to wear over my jeans (also with CE Armor), as well as a full face helmet, hiking boots and gloves.
I also picked up a mesh armored jacket for summer riding-when you are tempted to ride in without the leather.

I'm a leather guy myself. Motox boots and full face street or MX helmet. Protection is a strange thing, it makes me ride too fast(because I won't get hurt if I fall). If you fall at 40mph you will wish you had leather or some hitech stuff on that skin I don't know, if you are in jeans and tennis sneakers be carefull and don't let anyone hit you. To be realistic you should always wear the best gear and even more so if your Ruckus is slow. Cars are very dangerous and they can run you off the road or hit you. It pays to be like a boy scout and be prepared ;D Call me Granny

Abe said his gear makes him drive faster. This kind of goes along with a study they did in canada on safety. Seems they had a dangerous section of road where acidents were frequent. They clocked the speed of the vehicles and found any average speed. They went to work on that section of road to make it safer. They cleared obstacles and improved the vision at intersections ect. They made the road much safer. When they again checked the average speed of the traffic they found that it had increased signiicantly. People were driving faster because they could do so at the same perceived risk level as when the road was crummy. Thats how people are, frosty

My hobby is causing accidents. frosty lmfao We loaded 3 people (over 500 pounds) onto my ruckus and took it out onto Hickory Road with a speed limit of 45mph. And we went up the biggest hill in the county at about 2 miles per hour with like 40 cars behind us and people honking their horns etc. It was great fun ;D

My hobby is causing accidents. frosty Hey don't be messing up the rep of Ruckus owners I must say I crashed lots of times when my scoot went 40 because I didn't want to slow down. It took so long to build speed that I would take every corner full chat(that includes turning at intersections and so on). Frosty may get more ladies in his speedo but they do like the leather even more so on a scooterist

Not ot be a mother hen-but do you guys know you can abrade your skin down to the bone at 40MPH? One of our friends dumped his bike at 35MPH wearing only a tank top and shorts-he had such severe burns and road rash that he needed skin grafts-quite painful-I think they had to take the skin from his butt. He NEVER rides without full gear these days-he learned a painful lesson. I've been riding over 20 years-and I am really impressed with the quality and choice of the gear out on the market today. While the mesh products aren't likely to give you as much protection as leather-they are a comfortable and reasonable alternative to riding with lots of skin exposed in the hot weather. I LOVE my Titanium Air pants-plenty of ventilation, top quality armor, and not too hot to ride in. They are "overpants"-so in the real hot weather-you could wear shorts underneath them-and stay relatively comfortable while simultaneously having some protection for your skin. I have both a leather and mesh armored jacket as well. As far as the thong and speedo-WELLLL-my Ruckus gets plenty of gawkers without attracting additional attention....Abe's right-We must protection the reputation of Ruckus Owners....

I wear my full face helmet sometimes when I'm riding. You only have to wear a helmet if your bike is over 50cc in my state.

Leather jacket, leather chaps, gloves, over the ankle boots, and either the 3/4 helmet with face shield or my half helmet if I'm just practicing in the parking lot, etc.
Same gear on Ruckus, SW, or V-Star, whether passenger or driver (I only drive the scoots and not much on the SW yet)-
I've already gone down a ravine once- that leather saved my hide, quite literally, and the helmet saved my head- Gear is good!
