Hi all! Just spent the last 20 or so minutes browsing your forum. I just discovered the Ruckus yesterday as I was lookin for different scooter models on the market. I've been interested in getting a scooter recently for two reasons: 1) the insanely high gas prices (range anywhere from $.90-$1.00/liter) and 2) my recent insurance troubles. Anyways, I am quite interested in the Ruckus but do have 1 thing that is kind of worrying me...the power. I am by no means a small guy, I'm 5'10" but weigh 215lbs...working on shedding those extra pounds off though (yay South Beach diet! LOL) Is the Ruckus going to be decent enough for me? I tend to be a bit of a speed demon and realize that I won't get the same thrills out of a scooter, but still want a wee bit of performance. I know I could buy a 125cc scooter, but that would require a motorcycle license. If I purchase a scooter under 50cc I can use my normal drivers license and insurance is dirt cheap. I noticed that someone who is located in North Vancouver (very close to where I am) posted recently saying he got his Ruckus to go 80km/hr (about 50mph for you yanks), has anyone been able to contact him? If I can push the performance of this little baby I will probably go ahead and purcahse it within the next week or two. I look forward to your responses and the online store when it finally comes online! If I buy the Ruckus you can be sure I'll be purchasing some parts through it! Take care, Jordan F.

The Ruckus is great ;D Just remember its not going to be a speed demon neither is any 50cc scooter for that matter. Its quick enough. With some performance parts I am sure it would be up to your needs once the Battlescooter store comes online.

If your riding is in 25-30mph zones the Ruckus is purrfecttttttttttttttttttttt. I have been pulled over but it's because they think it's a minibike

I've been riding roads where the average speeds are 40, and I've been able to manage just fine-I keep an eye on my rearview mirror, and pull over to the right to let a vehicle pass if they want to drive at 45. In over 300 miles-I have only had to allow a car to pass me 3 times.
ABE-LOL at the minibike! My Ruckus is plated-but I've noticed more than one cop do a double take when I have driven by-but because I have plates-I haven't been stopped.
Jordan-My ruckus tops out at about 38-40MPH. I weigh 135lbs. You aren't going to get much more than that out of most STOCK 50cc-

Ya, I forgot to mention. The city I live in most 25-30 zones have cars doing 40mph or faster! If it's a posted 35 the Ruckus is a turtle waiting to get smashed.
In an urban enviroment the Ruckus is A+. Everyone should buy one. The speed of the Ruckus really doesn't matter. It's how practical it is, more so than other scoots.

I drive on 45mph roads here with people doing 55+ They can pass me if I want but I have only been passed about a dozen times. People sometime get a little annoyed on a 45mph road with my doing 30 up a steep hill.

Hi all. New guy here. I just got my Ruckus a couple of weeks ago and now I'm riding it everywhere.
Blur, part of the fun has been to choose a route that's appropriate for the speed that it'll go (almost 40 mph). So now it's an interesting challenge to find new ways to get around town.

frosty, I've taken my Ruckus on a 30 mile ride. This is something I never though it would be useful for...what a nice suprise.
Blur66, If you're gonna get a scooter why not go directly to the coolest one? Get a Ruckus.

Just buy a Ruckus! You don't need to do anything if you don't want to. It's a swiss army scooter. It was my truck until I lost my PlayPocket. The big motor has to go because I really miss it!

abe, Does your seat get hot with that motor in the play pocket?
I just used scribs idea this week-and hooked up a backpack under the seat-it fits perfectly-is secure using the backpack straps, and gives me plenty of storage space.

ahhhhh....im about a week away from picking my ruckus up, have been thinking about buying one for about a year now. The gas prices are nuts so i'm finally going to get one. It should be awesome. Oh yeah..don't worry, I'm probably the biggest rider on these boards 225 lbs. and the power should be fine, considering i used to tool around on a razz back in the day. Hopfully when abe opens up shop we can buy some nice pipes and slap'em on! -Ian
