I just bought a 2004 Ruckus with about 300 miles, the coolant is low. Do you have to mix the coolant with water? how much of each? I'm really new to this. lol in addition to what was said above, use distilled water (sold in grocery stores for about $1.5 for a gallon) to avoid any mineral build-up inside of your engine from the regular drinking or tap water.

Distilled water is a good idea although a buddy of mine is a mechanic in a major garage and he says they just use tap water so obviously it's okay to use in a pinch.

you can get distilled water from the back of your dehumidifier.

Garages can get away with it because they can change it regularly as part of a service, but i prefer using destilled water as precaution, and is cheap enough Andcongrats on your ruckus

What if you used your ruckus through winter (cold starts) and when one day it stopped working and when you go to diagnose it you see absolutely zero coolant in the container? Has some damage been caused or will a fillup on fluids likely fix it? Someone said something about blowing fuses for running air in through the coolant line??

Sounds like we need more info for a good diagnosis, running out of coolant will not stop a ruckus engine from running, but it will prevent it from going above 4000 rpms. Filling the container and trying running it will allow you to see if you were lucky and got away with an overheat without any major damage
