That's why a torque wrench is recommended.

But i think they teach you how much to tighten by rotations rather than torque. What happen when you overtightened it?

the piston was hitting it and bent the electrode..

Are you sure thats the right plug? Wouldn't think it would possible to tighten it enough to impact the piston?! Anothe point to complicate things: I replaced the plug, but I thought I was stripping it out, 'cause it just seemed to softly turn again and again. I called the bike coop and the guy let me know there is a crush washer on the plug, so people always think they're stripping. That said, Cabuco's right, be careful! If the spark hole starts to strip guys, would it be a good idea to add some kind of thread strengthener before a thread builder and tap become necessary??

Hey ! I got a practical tool at wal-mart ! It's a little detector for the spark and it includes the feeler gauge for the spark gap and some cleaning tool for the spark plug. under 3 $ cdn !
