Mohawk service stations have a handy oil recycle , also canadian tire has a recycle program too. For antifreeze call your local radiator shop to see if they recycle or who they use . A friend takes mine in the winter cuz he has a used oil furnace in his garage .

Most repair facilities will take your used oil, just do not throw it in the garbage, take it to be recycled

[kidding] You can just pour it down your sink as long as you rinse the sink well afterwards. [/kidding]

I was just joking about pouring it down the sink. I'm actually in the faculty of Environmental Studies at University so I would never do something like that. Usually I just leave it in old margerine containers laying around the garage until my brother takes it somewhere.

I have been known to strain it through a coffee filter and reuse it as bar oil for my chainsaws.

Hey DD, I'm in charge of operations in a regional sewer plant and believe me, lots of @@!!&%## people dump oil, paint and anything you can think of into sewers. It causes everyone to pay more. I drain mine into plastic coffee containers and take it to Auto Zone.

I actually worked at a wastewater plant for 4 mths this year for a co-op job. When we cleaned out all the pumping stations you'd see some pretty gross stuff like 6" of grease floating etc. I would never pour oil down my drain. I've edited my post to make the joke a bit clearer. Typically I drain it into old margarine containers with the intention of taking it somewhere but they do pile up for a while and then I do 5 at once.
