well..my ruckus has been apart for about a month as i worked on doing some mods.. today i finished and i think it is done for now.. got a few kinks to work out like the rear brake pulls when you hit a bump.. and the speedo i think i need to relocate it as it moves if you lock the handlebars one way or the other.. so it changes the angle.. but for now it will do.. here is a list of mods i did.. modify stock handlebar.. cut off and shaved down.. smoothed out.. painted.. put Posh foam grips password JDM stem password JDM extension chrome Daytona shock Kitaco frame brace with pegs modify stock seat frame.. cut out over 2+" to lower it.. rewelded.. sanded.. filler.. paint.. done cut plastic under gas tank to fit cut plastic above motor to fit.. cut holes in it to mount Kitaco frame brace switched horn to inside battery box switched front turn signals to headlight frame installed angel eyes inside headlights ran switch for lights from controls on left side dimmer switch to control both angel eyes and headlights (on or off either one) NCY black fiberglass reinforced gas tank cover (wanted stainless but jody never got any) remounted my chanito windshield by using reflectors in stock turn signal location now onto new pics as of today.. took the ruck on a quick ride up to the parkway.. stopped at overlook and took some few pics with my droid.. let me know what you think.. i really need to wash everything but i was itchin to ride i will wash it later so it is dirty.. but still.. ;D also.. for anyone coming up for the labor day weekend ride in western NC.. this is what you will see.. lots of curves.. overlooks.. tunnels.. downhill bombin.. some slow uphills but its all good.. ;D thread for info is here totalruckus.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=46286

how did you do the angel eyes? they look sweet, pics at night plz!!! the angel eyes was a mod that was originally done last year by achidotcom so all credit for the mod goes to him.. when i saw it i knew i wanted to do it.. i purchased the round LEDs from a guy on ebay last year.. i was going to install them after summer ride but when they finally arrived was around the time my dad passed away so i lost steam with modding and put it on the backburner.. its been almost a year since my dad passed so the healing is getting better so i finally went ahead and installed them while i was doing other mods.. they are kinda a PITA to do.. the hardest part is getting the lens to come away from the metal housing of the headlamp.. it is glued in there.. so you have to take them apart.. run them under very hot water to loosen the glue.. then slowly peel away the glass from the metal.. the first one i did i was getting mad because the water was burning my hands and it wasnt budgin.. so i kinda bent up the metal a lil as i was using a small straight screwdriver.. but after trying for what seemed an hour.. i got my wife to get me the paint can opener tool.. with that i was able to scribe around the lens and break the glue and slowly but surely it came apart.. the other one took like 5 mins.. i wasnt afraid of the glass breaking or damaging the metal so i could prob do it now a lot quicker.. once apart.. cleaned everything up real good..i drilled 2 small holes at the bottom of the metal housing right where the angel eyes would go.. then i soldered longer wires onto the angel eyes.. then laid them inside the metal housing where it is reflective.. once i got them eyeballed in straight.. used some blue tape to hold it until my high temp heat gun warmed up.. then i did a few spots to hold it in place from behind the angel eyes.. once it was held there by hot glue.. i removed the tape and then put hot glue on both the front lip and behind... once this all cooled i double checked to make sure it was held in good which it was.. then i cleaned the lens of any left over glue.. got some GOOD silicon and used that to reattach the lens.. 100% waterproof.. (i hope) the wiring is pretty simple.. i had to find the power going to the dimmer switch on the left hand controls.. so i took the controls on the left apart and identified the source power wire which was black with orange.. i traced it back to before the connection for the controls.. cut there.. soldered on some bullet connectors.. then wired everything up to a switch i hid at the bottom of the battery box which is really a piece of the plastic running board i cut because it had a 90 degree angle and a big surface area on the back.. i scuffed it up and using some plastic epoxy.. glued it under the battery box.. then used some radio shack red LED SPST switches.. wired the power to both switches from the same source at the dimmer switch.. then grounded both switches and angel eyes to negative on battery.. then just ran wires to power the angel eyes.. done....here are some pics from last night when it started to get dark.. one switch on angel eyes only both switches on both angel eyes and headlights on i can turn them both off.. or have headlights only as well.. i had pics of the switches but for some reason they are not on my phone.. i aint taking battery box off now lol.. orig thread about angel eye mods.. totalruckus.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=34596&hilit=angel+eyesfew more pics that uploaded late.. i still need to find another plastic jug or trash can to go under seat as my original one tapers and it wont work with shaved seat frame.. heh... gonna look today at wally for battery box i think that might work.. i miss being able to put my keys.. change.. sunglasses under the seat..

thanks.. i like them there too.. they are hidden so cant accidenly hit them.. haven't rode at complete dark yet but im sure they light up pretty good.. i could see them in the reflection from the gas tank cover since its gloss black.. now need to put more miles on it.. fix the lil kinks.. got me a battery box to cut down and put below my seat for storage.. my old trashcan wont fit anymore and it tapers too much

man i very much like how you incorporated the oem luggage cover with the frmae brace! also the forward position of the fron tpegs, great job. i like the halo headlights, do you have any pics of them at night? how much do they illuminate down the road? the holes in the oem luggage cover look factory made, great job!

Man, if I ever come into some cash, I will have to invest in one of those "frame braces" with the footpegs.

Grandfather and the Viaduct, I was out that way a couple weeks ago. I picked up one of the Parkway "Watch the Road" stickers to put on my Ruckus. Just have to figure a good spot for it.
