I've ordered a tube of Honda Moly 60 paste from the local dealership and was wondering if anyone uses molybdenum paste when working on their Ruckus engine?
The repair manual lists it as one of the needed lubricants for places like the cam lobes and rocker arm.

that's awesome you went out and got the correct stuff. I've read in the service manual to use that, but I didn't really know what it was and i figured just regular high pressure, high temp grease would do fine so I used that instead. that's good you are using the right stuff.....I'm sure it's better. Maybe chanito can explain.

I hunted around for moly paste for a while as well.. got blank looks when I asked about it at Canadian Tire.. no surprise there; I generally get blank looks when I'm looking for anything non-standard at Canadian Tire. ;) According to Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molybdenum_disulphideMolybdenum disulfide
MoS2 with particle sizes in the range of 1-100 µm is a common dry lubricant. Few alternatives exist that can confer the high lubricity and stability up to 350 °C in oxidizing environments. Sliding friction tests of MoS2 using a pin on disc tester at low loads (0.1-2 N) give friction coefficient values of <0.1.
Molybdenum disulfide is often a component of blends and composites where low friction is sought. A variety of oils and greases are used, because they retain their lubricity even in cases of almost complete oil loss, thus finding a use in critical applications such as aircraft engines. So in our engines I guess it's an extra bit of slipperiness for the cam lobes and valves, and protection against oil-loss damage. I'll be picking it up tomorrow, if it arrives on schedule: C$22 for an 88ml (3oz) tube. It's Honda Part # 08734-0001 btw.

You should have ask for "Assembly lube" at your Canadian tire or auto parts as that is the generic name is just a thick oil with molybdenum in suspension to protect all those parts until oil reaches them

Maybe if I win the lottery and start collecting them... ;)

That tube should last you for a while (work amazing to quiet noisey door hinges)
