Well, MaHawk (Mitzie) and I headed for Townsend on Thursday in the Chryvertible with the Rucks in tow, stopping for gas in Spring City, Tn.......
After arriving at Docks Motel, we ran back up town to the local SUBWAY for lunch.......
Our next excursion for the day was riding over to Cades Cove, then a right onto the road to the Tremont Institute.......
Coming back out of the Institute, we cross a bridge hanging a left onto a road that would turn to gravel and provide several miles of scenery.......
We returned to our cabin at Docks........
...to find the "Kamino Brothers" unloading......
...and dancing..........
This was our cabin......
Well, it started getting dark........
So Us, the Kaminos (Josh aka Kami, and Joie), riverruckas and hubby (Sharron and Bill) decided to walk down to Little River Bar B Q for supper (dinner above the Mason Dixon)......
Well, off to bed for a good night's (at least 3 or 4 hours) sleep to get ready for Friday's riding, which would start with a blast across The Foothills Parkway, then right onto Hwy 129 for breakfast at the new Tallassee Store.......
Then it was off to the other end of Hwy 129 where The Dragon was waiting.......
Next ride on the agenda was another twisty one on Hwy 28 over to Fontana Dam.......
The Kaminos rode to the far end of the Dam for a little "I wonder what's over there" exploring, and made their arrival as I stood on the Observation Deck.......
Well, back up 28 to The Deals Gap Store for a lunch of Dragon Burgers, Fries, and Onion Rings........
What skuuter can do to "said burger, fries, rings".........
Well, back through The Dragon with me, Joie, and Josh making up the first group, my Wife next, followed by the Docks Crew. great "speedy" little run down the Dragon's back, then a right onto The Foothills Parkway for a photo-op........
...where skuuter would drop his camera, and later find out he can dismantle and repair Canons..........
Tonight's supper would be at the Large Cabin with Spaghetti prepared by Sharron and Mitzie......
I used the oppurtunity to shoot some pics of the River below our cabin.......
Another 3 or 4 hour (only for me, don't panic, we don't wake you in 3 hours if you attend this ride) sleep session and it was time to head out Little River Road over to Bennetts Bar B Q in Gatlinburg, where one of the best breakfast buffets around can be had.........
Next ride would be through Gatlinburg, hanging a right to The Motor Nature Trail, an extremely interesting and scenic ride through The Smokey Mountains.......
The view I had in my mirrors most all week..."JOIE".........
Not so sure if I'd gone off the mountain somewhere and survived, that I better get out of the way, because he'd probably land on me after yellin'...."WHATCHIS"...........
Later this day, I would almost test this theory. We headed for Cosby, with us having to stop and repair Mitzie's flat rear tire on the way. Turning onto Hwy 32 with the Big Ruckus up front, the Kaminos and I set out on a torrid pace. Hwy 32 is a newly asphalted, extremely twisty, little known road that is every bit as much fun as The Dragon, except for lotsa' "tree debri" in places. I hit a wet spot with tree sap, pushing my front end out in a right hander with pegged throttle, stood it up, shot across the other lane, and "rim rode" the far shoulder with the mountain drop off to my immediate left.......coulda' swore I heard "WHATCHIS" yelled behind me.... ....oh well, we all gathered it up, and got back up to speed reeling in the 250, then passing it and resuming to the top where the road becomes gravel at The Appalachian Trailhead......
Next stop would be Granny's Apple Orchard and Restaurant for Lunch/Supper Combo meal.........
Well, our last day there, Sharron and Bill had "Motel Chores" to attend to, leaving the rest of us to go back out Little River Road, and the Tremont Road for pics. We tried to eat breakfast at the BP/IGA Store, but tourists had already foraged there.....
So it was out to the edge of town where The Backporch Restaurant was awaiting......
"Please bring us some food"..........
They did........
...with skuuter "doing his usual........
Now it was off to the Scenery........
These guys are great company.........
Well, it was back over to the Tremont Institute.....
...then back to Docks Motel for farewells, and loading up for the trek back home. Any member reading this should make plans to attend next year. It really doesn't get any better than this for a Ruckus Rally. We have all discussed maybe a Spring and Fall one in 09...depends on how much member interest we can generate........... ;D
Oh yeah, on the way home MaHawk insisted I put the top down, then she rode like this.......
...while we were "stalked" by two riderless Rucks all the way there.......
Well, until next time....."EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT", 'cause Ya' missed "The Ride of The Year"..."again"....See Ya', skuuter.... ;D
