i rode with 2 occasionally on a stock ruckus. the acceleration is noticably slower but top speed isn't that different except uphill.

Looking at your photos, I just see two conduit holders, not the honda seat hinges..? I built this buddy seat with just the conduit holders, looked the same but able to spill the buddy if you lean back too far... I also was able to bend the conduit holders when we really tested hard (better than on the road). And so I'm left in need of real seat hinges I suppose.

Hopefully that seat doesn't tip backwards with a passenger on it and dump them off the back

well, i plan on mostly ferrying drunken friends back and forth through about a mile of forest. so im sure there will be a few "mishaps." But ive thoroughly tested it now and as long as they dont attempt a backflip they should be fine. Also if u didnt know, the ruckus has a weight limit of ONE set of testicles, so i wont mind having the ladies a bit too snug. And if any DO fall off, Ill just turn around and cooly state:

Hello, I love your idea and am wondering if this works ... With the driver seat flipped up, if you flip the buddy seat forward, then flip the driver seat down, can the buddy seat act as a backrest for the driver?

Not really possible the way i did mine but if u do the project im sure u could figure a way. Maybe a peice of metal secured to the back that would brace against the frame It would most likely be ugly and uncomfortable. And on another note- i have since taken mine off and did some double riding before the rains came. It really doesnt add that much room it seems. But it was very fun to do and actually does look kinda cool. I will be putting it back on for certain situations i figure.

Love this mod but have a couple of questions. Did you actually use the Honda seat hinges or not and if so where? Where did you purchase the conduit holders so I can try and find the same thing in the UK?

I personaly didn't use the hinges when I did it. I went to my local hardware store and picked up the two conduit holders and attached to the schwinn seat with the screws that came with it. If u look closely at my pics above u should have no trouble figuring everything out. I'm pretty do it yourself retarded and this was a piece o cake.

Thanks for the reply, I did manage to find conduit holders in the end and seat was sourced from Amazon US. The holders were a little different but the seat was safely attached. The one issue I had with it after a couple of weeks of regular use was the lack of handles at the back so I bought the rear luggage rack to see if I could adapt it to suit my Wife's needs. Here are the results in a little step-by-step. It's absolutely solidly attached to the carrier/bike and reportedly provides a very comfortable seating position with P-JDM Pegs. It actually looks like a Honda accessory. Took me 40 mins using only fixings that came in the Schwinn/Honda boxes and an 8mm drill bit. You have to do it on the bike hence the box action. Only downside to it is you lose the flip seat but I'm thinking of making a cage side panel open like a mailbox. If you have no cage then it shouldn't be such a sacrifice to you. It can be taken on and off in a matter of minutes. Hope y'all are inspired!!!! Attachments:
