Umm...we'll see about that...maybe I'll make it a total mod scooter and toss on a dozen mirrors and a few extra headlights.

That's not mod... look at all that empty space between the mirrrors where they could have fit more mirrors...

seeing as i'm from brighton, the mod capital ,i feel i can comment on this look,
yuk!
i actually meant ruckus headlamps.
the problem is, that everyone behind you will be so overcome with vanity, that they will eventually crash into the back of you.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of that many mirrors....a few extra mirrors might be kinda fun on the right scooter but it's not really my passion. I did watch the movie Quadraphelia this fall which was awesome and that did open my eyes to the Mod culture a bit.

what you see in that film are some of the places i hang out, and my business is just of the seafront, not far from main part of the movies best scenes.
tbh you don't see scooters like that too often here..

Yeah it is the wrong time of year....the painful thing is that we had a crazy warm spell 2 weeks ago and my Beluga was so close to being ready for a test ride but I hit a few surprise snags and now it's -10 C here....the forecast is calling for cold weather for the next 10 days. Also, I don't really have anywhere to park it right now because I already have my car + CBR in my one parking spot at my apartment building....I've got the spot on the end so when it's summer I can park my bikes half on the grass beside my spot but right now there's a snowbank there. Oh well...

But at least your exhaust will keep your passenger leg warm

Ha Ha Ha! Yes it will....it gets even closer when the suspension compresses. I'm not sure how that's going to work out but I don't really need to carry passengers anyways.

I've got a wierd problem with my Beluga. As I mentioned before I've been having some troubles with my carb float...it was slowly letting gas through and flooding my engine. I adjusted the float and that seems to be working but then a day ago my scooter started dripping gas. It's really wierd because it's been sitting there for weeks untouched and then out of the blue it starts dripping gas and actually making a puddle on the plywood underneath! Unlike before, the gas isn't flooding into the engine (I don't think) because it still starts right up (unlike before when my engine was full of gas).
The obvious thing to check is if my fuel line isn't fitting snuggly onto the carb but it is...it was really hard to get it on there and I can't see any leaking from the fuel line. It's wierd because if it was leaking past the float it would fill up the engine rather than dripping outside of it (because my carb is sloped towards in the intake port). I'm totalled baffled where the gas is coming from.

is it pos that the floatbowl is leaking?
or the overflow pipe, does it leak when the petrol is swiched off at the stopcock?
could it leak from the idlecontol screw?

if your float is made of plastic/foam you may want to replace it. I have seen them get saturated with fuel and it messes with their bouyancy. You can adjust it then it soaks up a little more fuel and resumes leaking.

Those are some good thoughts.....when I close the petcock (aka stopcock) the leak does stop. Perhaps it's coming out of the overflow pipe....that's something I didn't think to check and that would make a lot of sense.

You can adjust it then it soaks up a little more fuel and resumes leaking. It's a brand new carb & float though....I had a look at the float and it looks 100% normal. No gas inside or anything.

You will need to follow the gas line from the tank to the carburetor and see if there is any cracks or bends where there might be a leak, gas lines, specillay plastic do not age so well (kind of like me) and might decide to let you know by leaking

I'll take another look at the fuel line but it is a brand new fuel line....my current theory on this leak is that over the few weeks it was sitting there enough gas evaporated from the bowl to lower the float and thus open the valve slightly which then leaked via the overflow hole. I think I just need to spend a little more time adjusting the float level.

I think I got the problem licked...my float valve was fairly sticky so it would stay open or shut regardless of the fuel level sometimes. I did a little tweaking and adjusting and it seems to be working good now. It's much less sticky now.
