anyone have an answer not rooted in their childhood? sorry, dude, but your question is wrong already. what do you mean "how many miles can i expect to get out of a ruckus"? does it mean "how many miles will i go before anything breaks?" or "how many miles before engine breaks?" or "how many miles before i will have replaced everything but the frame"? if you would have made an effort and read the whole thread, you could've found dandy dan's comment on how his ruck got 25,000 miles on it. specify your question, make it a smart question, so you don't get dumb answers.

I really didn't even take much offense to it but I do prefer a more specific knowledge... thank you for your 'concern', it is duly noted and has been appropriately considered... good day...

thanks for a lesson. sorry, your question is not wrong. but, to your knowledge, there are wrong questions, you just might not notice them; here is an example: "how fast does the sun shine?" or "how much current does an average lamp send into a battery?".
your question, however, is just "rooted into childhood". "how far will a toy car go if i push very-very hard?". there are just too many variables. depending on if you keep it stock or not, on your riding style, on your mechanical skills (applied during "preventative maintenance"), if you are going to wreck your ruckus or not after first x miles, how often you will change your engine oil (sometimes "proper" is not enough), and so on.
the "dumb answer" was, imho, more or less suitable for the question. noone can give you "specific knowledge" about that on this website, and even chanito's answer doesn't have too much grounds. it's just a number. as far as i know, dandy dan's ruck has the most recorded miles, but now it's wrecked.
so.... you can EXPECT (but not necessarily get) 50,000 miles or MORE, or LESS out of 2007 ruckus. here. expect it now.

P.S. I'll let chanito fight for himself on your call that his number "doesn't have too much grounds[sic]" but I trust someone who has systematically proven on this website to be a human encylopedia of mechanical/technical knowledge and expertise (I believe DD referred to chanito as our "resident wise man" in this very thread)... but then again, he's probably smart enough not to which might well turn out to be the greatest lesson I have learned from all of this good day...

OK let be civil again, "For your info" Mr Varroa, i did not take that figure out of my rear end I earn my living as a car tech, and supposedly i am a very good one at that , One of my jobs involve analyzing and fixing potential problems on engines, so that is an educated guess, our engines are built like race engines with lots of features that make it an awesome scooter engine, is a 4 cycle water cooled with large enough water jackets to provide adequate coolant circulation to prevent hot spots, magnetic driven leak free water pump, full flow thermostat, roller bearings on the camshaft and crankshaft, throcoid oil pump with enough capacity to circulate the oil in 4 revolutions, cast in cylinder jacket, yes it is built like a race engine because we abuse it like one, also the electric system is state of the art with brush-less alternator/starter, an ECM with a 90 volts CDI driver for the ignition an enough memory capacity to run 4 cylinders instead of one and able to control the power to an incredible efficient fuel pump, a carburetor big enough to supply fuel for an engine twice the size. With love and and care should reach the 100k miles with no problem. :)So please guys stop this, i hope this answer the question and leave everyone happy

sorry if insulted you, chanito. i meant to say "it has not been proven by an actual ruckus that went 100,000 miles. it's just a guess. a very educated one, tho".
i know you are the only actual technician among us.

So... What is meant by a long time at high revs? ? I ride mine to work and never let it run over 40MPH; however, I try and keep it as close to 40mph as possible the whole way there. (Its a 30 mile trip each way) Am I over working the engine??? Like I said even on large hills I do not let it run over 40.

The scooter is design to rev happily to 8850 so you can keep it there all day long, the problem is when you install a CDI and eliminate the rev limiter it can rev past that, and there is where we can get in trouble, as the pump will pump the oil faster than it can get back to the sump and will starve the engine of lubrication, so do not go above 50mph on down hills ( :'(I did once in the mountains of TN, and i am still smiling about it, but is not good for the scooter )
