This tool I made was prompted by “I Heard a Ruckus”’s post on the spring install. I had the spring set but was putting it off for a rainy day. Then saw the post and took a crack at it. Everything went good until I got to putting things back together. I tried and tried and was not able to get the clutch back together. Searched for the tool listed in the service manual but only found it on Japanese sites. I don’t read or speak Japanese. Found a German site with a drawing and measurements and went from there. Here’s the results. The whole project cost about $5.00. Totally built from scrap. All the production credit goes to a friend of mine “ZIPPY”, a machinist friend of mine, and hence the name of the tool, Zippy Spring Compression Tool. (Zippy owns a Zuma but I forgive him.) Here are the links to the photos of the finished product and the mechanical drawing . Hope this helps. i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/sasquatcher/P1010048.jpgi126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/sasquatcher/zippytool.jpgIf anyone has a question please contact me. If for some reason the photos don’t work I can send you a copy of both. Kinda new at this stuff. kmarfort@sbcglobal.net Jim

Wow looks great! I imagine a lot of people don't have access to a welder to make that but if you started selling those I imagine you'd move quite a few. Personally, I don't find it that hard to just compress the clutch with my knees while I pop the clip on but I would be handy to have an easier way.

I tried compressing it with everything I had but being 47 I'm not flexible enough to get down there with my knees. I will talk to Zippy about making a few of these and see what he thinks.

I'd be up for one if your buddy decided to make a few extra.

same here, the clutch has a tendency to be a pain without a nice tool like that

Sorry it took a week to post this but I was working long hours this week and didn’t have time to talk to my machinist buddy until today.
First off, he was a little upset (PO’ed) to see that I said it only cost $5.00 to make.( I showed him the post) The tool he made for me was totally made from scrap laying around his shop.( I am a wood worker not a metal person so I didn’t know) To make more tools he would have to purchase materials,( and time) and hence the cost.
Zippy says he would be willing to make these things for $45.00 including shipping US 48 and actual shipping outside the US .
If you know of anyone else that would be interested in these please let me know.
If anyone has questions please contact me.
Payment is check or money order only please. When they clear he will ship them.( Zippy designated the shipping person)
I guess the last line is to place orders. Contact me at kmarfort@sbcglobal.net

Just letting everyone know I bought the tool and it is well worth it. Sure beats knealing on the clutch and cussing.

I couldn't afford the Honda one. Sasquatch said this was the fifth one he has sold.

Has anyone actually checked how much the Honda one is? I wouldn't be surprised if it was around $45.

Has anyone actually checked how much the Honda one is? I wouldn't be surprised if it was around $45. Probably but this one is product specific instead of a general tool, so is easier to use
