Ok so I was prepping my ruck to install the Chanito Intake and in the process while I was removing the airbox I found this hose. Can anyone tell me what it is this does? I think I've got everything else figured out but this was just kinda there...the single hose on the right side was attached to the airbox, the 2 hoses on the left of the pic were just stuffed in between the gas tank and the frame. One of the hoses on the left side is plugged and the other is just left open...any help would be great thanks

they are the hoses that feed the Pair system filter (which is a small filter located in the front of the air box), they collect the vapors by the fuel tank and then get them burn in the exhaust manifold. they are not used in aftermarket fresh air intakes, at least not in the one i make or in the other i seem

Thanks chanito. As for your intake- from what I've read you suggest adjusting the IMS located on the top of the carb before messing with the jetting, any tips on how to adjust it...I got the intake installed but after attempting to ride, the ruck hits about 10mph and chokes up and just before it stalls it seems to slowly build up power before dying again

Thanks chanito. I kept getting confused over the 2 adjustment screws I believe.

Can anyone tell me the stock setting for the idle speed screw? I was messing with this thinking it was the IMS screw and now I need to get it back to where

So I am half way done re-jetting my carb to match my new intake and exhaust. While reading the thread something was mentioned about shimming the needle. Don't these needles usually have tapered layers near the head for adjustments? Mine only has one level. Am I missing something on how to do this??
Thanks in advance

The needles in our carbs were not made to be adjusted, so they only have one way to install, what we used to do is fit some small washers under the needle, to get it to raise

A mushroom like that is a Helmoltz resonator.
It's tuned to a specific frequency to either eliminate a very specific intake noise, or affect a change in the volumetric efficiency by using vibration to "pack" more air into the engine like you'd use vibration to pack more sand in a bucket. It's not a dramatic effect though, you'd probably need an engine dyno to see the results.

Could one attach the pcv exit to the valve thingy on the exaust for the sake of simplification on my bike. I threw a filter seperatly on the pcv exit thinking it needed to breath not exaust (which would explain all of the oily residue on everything around the filter) stupid me haha.

What ever I was doing wrong causing my bike to run like poop, I fixed. So after installing my intake to my ruckus I was unable to break 20 mph. I re-jetted the main to 88 and the slow to 35. Still nothing. So I decided that I was going to take all hoses off and than re-attach. It worked. I must of had a line going in the wrong direction, or something not snug, what ever, I am just happy that I am up and running. I have noticed an increase in my low end but nothing amazing in the top end. It does sound a whole lot cooler with that throat-er suck when you pull on the throttle though. Thanks for all the post on this forum, it sure makes modding easier when you get stuck.

Doing this mod this week! Filter will be here tomorrow!! Will I have to put in new jets, or can I just tweak the air/fuel ratio? Any chance of getting any better acceleration with the K & N?

Alot depends on how well the new system air flow is. From my experience you will need to rejet. Common jet setups vary from 78-85 main and 38 slow jet.. Always try to adjust first before rejetting. In general if you have to adjust more than 1 full turn it is time to think about upping the jet. It doesn't come easy expect many trial and error setups. If set properly you will have better performance. But don't expect a rocket ship

So what jet do you guys recommend for this upgrade? Between the 78-88 main. What size jet does the ruckus come stock with?

So what jet do you guys recommend for this upgrade? Between the 78-88 main. What size jet does the ruckus come stock with? just did this mod. altitude makes a big difference in jetting, so does temperature.. i'm 500 feet above sea level, 67 degrees, and running a 40 pilot jet and 82 main jet. top and bottom end is fantastic mid range has a flat spot when it switches from the pilot circuit to the main jet. i am going to shim my needle up. that should take care of that. i gained no more top speed, still 43 mph. but it gets there alot faster. buy a set of slow and main jets from battle scooter and get good at taking the carb off you will probably be seeing alot of the inside of it. i am supposed to be great at carb jetting.been doing it for 40 years, but this little booger dealt me a fit. when i get all done working out the flat spot then i'm going to start all over and get plug readings at different rpms to zero in on my main and slow jet to make sure they're not to rich. have fun. by the way it will probably hardly run after you do the mod. i had to push mine home on the first test run. jetting will fix that. stock jet size is 35 and 75. mine is a 2014. make sure it runs good and is in tune before you do the mod. bill

First post. Couldn’t find this answered anywhere, so sorry to tag onto an old post, but it seemed the most relevant place to ask.
Thinking of getting the Password:JDM Ruckus / Zoomer Chromoly Rear Frame Section Ver. 1.0 and the Password:JDM Ruckus / Zoomer Billet Aluminum Frame Extension Kit, but wondering where to put the PCV in this setup as it doesn’t have a mounting post (or, if I can just get rid of it somehow). Any suggestions?
If it’s helpful, my Ruck is a 2013 with Yoshimura full exhaust, Uni Dual Foam Main Filter, and Uni mini paper cone side filter, with a TRS block on the Pair system, Carb rejeted to 85 Main & 38 Slow with the needle shimmed.
Thanks!
J
