Thanks, I installed an extension kit. It's the $230 one from Battlescooter. It's nice but really expensive.
Did you mean to post this in this thread?

Easiest oil-change I've ever done.

I have a Oil Change Tip...
During the oil draining process, carefully lean your scoot over (left side/drain side) until the centerstand dog leg touches the ground. You will see that more dirty oil comes out.
Zoomerman... still giving his 2 cents ;D

Nice to hear the old skoolers speaking up ;D How many kms are you at by now? I have the kickstand so mines already leaned over but I usually lean it over even more and wiggle it a bit to get every little bit because those last drops are the dirtiest.

Hi Dan,
This one has 7200 kms and the one that the taxi killed had, i think, 4000 kms
These days my Ruckus is work transportation. I have a new toy, a 91Honda Civic Si, it's getting lots of love and tuning. Rims/intake/exhaust.
But I still check in on you hard core guys now and then.

Speaking of oil changes, can you mix brands of synthetics when you do an oil change?
I had two halfs (Mobil One and someother brand) so I used one and topped up with the other.

I've heard it's fine to mix brands and to mix synthetic with regular. But I don't think mixing weights is a good idea.

Oh great, cause I mixed 15-50 w/ 10-30.
Anyone know for sure if its verboten to mix weights?

Oils use something called polymers, which are syntetic quemicals that act like springs between the oil molecules allowing it to behave light when cold and heavy when hot, therefore giving you the multiweight behaivor we want, however some are not compatable with others, so mixing weights is not a good idea

After changing the oil make sure the dipstick is in and tight before starting the engine.

Let's just say that there may be oil splattered on the muffler/baffle, cover, fender and duck bill, and the swiss cheese bracket and a little on the frame.

I did that with my car years ago - ugg, what a mess.
Of course, on the bright side, I never got any rust in my engine compartment.

Just did my first oil change... drained it then put in 0.6 Qts.... now when I check it with the dip stick it's barely registering on the criss crosses! I don't get it... dont want to put more in cuz I don't want to overfill, could I be doing something wrong?

The recommended about of oil is actually 0.6 litres, not qt so that equals more like 0.63 qt which is why it's barely showing on the dipstick. Just top it up until it's somewhere in the middle or closer to the top of the XXXXX without going above the crisscrosses.

Under "Oil Capacity" on the second page of the scanned maintenance guide it says 0.6 Litres (0.6 Quarts). Which doesnt make sense but I rolled with it.
I'll stick a little more in there and see what happens. Thanks.

Ok I put a little more in and checked it when I got to work - right in the middle of the XXXXXXs.
It was just a case of first timer paranoia.
