is it not possible the shim could fall out of the filter/drain hole if the drain bolt was taken out,
and you could possibly use a telescopic magnet to try and trace it too?

The oil drain hole on the side of the engine or the oil screen on the front?
You could maybe shake it out eventually but the inside of our engines are pretty complex and there are a lot of ridges, holes etc so you might be shaking for a while....the oil residue would make it sticky in there and the shims are pretty light.

You pulled the plug from the front of the engine That's hilarous! Yeah there's one on the side that's way easier to use. You only pull the front one once you've already drained the oil out the side. There's a 17mm bolt underneath the drive cover that is the right one to use for your oil change (unless the Euro's are different but I doubt that). Check your owners manual for a picture.

oh look its not a gearbox drain! of course the gearbox is at the back in the hub not on the side of the engine like normal bikes. don't worry dan i'm laughing with yer! thought that front drainer was the crappiest bit of design. well thats a whole lot easier now.

i think their should be a how-to- convert your 03-05 ruck into an 06.. That can get really expensive, with a new ECM, PCV system, intake and carburetor needle and mod the existing wire harness I like my 04 a lot just the way i have it right now, investing 500 dollars seems not such a bargain

I agree that buying the new ECM isn't worth it. The 06/07 ECM does too things which are raising the redline from 8k to 8850RPM and it also controls the valve in the new PCV system. If you really want to simulate this the best way to do it is get a CDI for your Ruckus to eliminate the redline and then buy the new cam chain tensioner and hook it up to a clean air source and just forget the valve. Jiang Wayne did this on some 06 Ruckus because of exhaust clearance issues so it seems okay to do. If you do these 2 things plus get an 06 carb needle you'll pretty much have an 06.

There's info scattered all over this site on that but no, nothing in one nice how-to post.

Has any one written up a tiny tach how to? Its pretty simple, not really worth a how-to. I think it goes like this: mount tach with zip ties, screws or double sided tape. Route wires under gas tank cover. White wire goes to a ground, red wire goes around the spark plug wire. Done.

I'd like to know the process for mounting/dismounting tires. I want to get some Bopper's but would rather install them myself. I've searched and can't find anything. Thanks!

Hey all. Would like to know what the heck all those hoses going in to the stock air box is for and can I get rid of them. Also just bought a variator kit by polini. How much of a pain or not it is to install. Thanks... P.S...porbally have a bunch more questions to ask cause I want to mod the heck out of the little thing.

can't speak for the hoses, but the Variator isn't hard to install. Just take your time and make sure everything's on right.

i would like to see a how to on carb cleaning...or is that a little too easy??? I don't know what are the important trouble spots and what to use to clean it with. Or how long? Do I have to remove the carb or can it stay bolted to the motor? thanks.

I would really like to see some video How-To's. I am really new to working on engines and so far a lot of the stuff I have read on this site has been very helpful but would have been even more helpful if it was done in video format.
For us new guys we tend to be a little trepidacious but if we could see it being done that would give us a lot more confidence.
Even if a few people just used the video function on their digital camera. I am sure I am not the only one who would really appreciate it.

Carb cleaning would be a great one....anyone want to do that?
Videos would be super cool....I think there are a few floating around you-tube but it's mostly simple stuff like changing your spark plug.

I'd love to see how to add in a extension kit. That'd be boss, as I'm tall, but not sure I have the skills to change a spark plug, much less install an extension kit.
