Interesting how the service manual would say something different than Honda's website. I really gotta get the service manual. As soon as I find it on a Canadian site I'll get one. What exactly is measured on the carb to come up with this 18mm number? I imagine its the diameter of the hole in the center of the carb where the 'flap' opens and closes. I'm still gonna measure mine tomorrow since I'll be in there anyways.
Anyways, Thx for posting as I'd really have looked like an idiot for paying $$ for a carb thats the same size, not as good and a pain to install etc.
P.S. a 20mm instill about 25% bigger in area (314mm^2 vs about 255mm^2) though not likely worth the expense, time and hassle.

I measured mine today and sure enough...18mm! Thanks for the heads up Chanito. I guess I'll be stickin with the stocker until I get it bored out and then I'll throw in a 24mm.

Believe it or not 18 is BIG for a 50cc engine, we just have to get more out of ours, the same motor uses a 15mm in the metro and the performance is similar, so now that you have your cam you have the potential to use it to its real limits, having a different profile needle would be nice and playing with the spring and the mixture screw are now real probabilities

Yeah I opened up a real Pandora's box of adjustments now. It'll be a while before I stop playing with things. I'll be back in the engine next week to replace the headgasket and I'll do some more porting/polishing while I'm in there. (Off Topic: What do you suggest to polish it with? I just wrapped a drill bit in 400 grit sandpaper and worked it around.)

Eastwood.com sell a porting kit, but i used to just get a 1/4 inch bolt and cut the head, and then cut a slut lenght wise so you can wrap sand paper and then just sand away

Well i am not sure since i did not measure the metro jazz, but when i was doing my research before buying the ruckus, i was told a couple of times the carbs on the ruckus were bigger, and i think they mix up the numbers in the owners manuals and print 15 mm for us and 18 for them, but then again i do not have a metro to go and confirm that info

If you google motoiq ruckus project you can read through their mods and results. They put a 20mm on a stock motor and added an exhaust system. Eventually they to big bore. Other experienced riders would say you don't need it and its finicky. Other run it and like it.
Like most ruckus mods you can find good and bad opinions on it.
As far as how fast? There doesnt seem to be hard fast rules for ruckus tuning results. Too many variables and any increases seem to be marginal. It's by stacking all these small increases up and tuning the total package that the final good gain is realised
