I recently acquired a recovered stolen 2013 Ruckus from it's original owner. The thief was clearly NOT mechanically inclined as there is evidence of Tweeker influenced ingenuity such as: the paper clip jumpered wire connector (?), sheet metal secured body panels and swapped ignition that is not plugged into anything...
Yes, I have the title.
No, I am not the thief.
I ordered a new ignition switch/keys (which now I wish I'd not done, after learning I could have had a key made from the code on the ignition, but oh well. water under the bridge) I exposed the ignition tonight with the intention of removing it for the new ignition and found that the back of the switch isn't connected to anything. I guess the thief just put it there so the Ruck didn't appear to be stolen. I found a female flat plug near (but dangling) the back of the ignition switch. I couldn't find anything in the vicinity that would receive that plug however. The plug has four connection positions, but only two red wires leading to it. This is the plug that had a paper clip type wire "jumping" both red wires (?) Wondering if this was an attempt at hotwiring?
The back side of the ignition switch is bare and I'm assuming there should be something that secures there that sends the signal for the motor to turn on.
Could someone post a pic or link to what exactly plugs into the back of the ignition ?
Anyone have any clue what the dangling plug might be ? I'm hoping the dangling plug/red wires plug into whatever plugs into the back of the ignition. Am I on the right track?
Dunno if it has any bearing on anything, but If I leave the paperclip jumper in the dangling plug and apply power to the (dead) battery with a charger I can hear the fuel pump turn on, the horn works, as well as the turn signals. No headlights tho (?)
I should be receiving the new ignition and keys soon which is a step in the right direction, but would like to order whatever wiring makes the connection from the switch to the motor.
The Ruck has it's cosmetic issues, but overall appears to be in fairly good condition.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Curt.
