Is dropping premium in totally necessary? Unless you want to risk preigintion.

The big bore pistons are hi compression, so they require at least 91octane gas, preignition will blow the head gasket in a couple of minutes

I don't really know anything engine mods, but does the big bore cut down on reliability or longevity of the scooter?

i do not know for sure, but mine lasted 8000 miles before needing main bearings, so it is not worse than stock

Here is a side by side of a stock engine and a big bore

so im guessing the compression ratio increases because the BB piston is taller right? any chance of valves hitting with the added height?

Big Bore Pros & Cons: Cons: Need to buy full face helmet - bugs hurt at 45+ mph & wide grin allows bugs to get in teeth. Need to get new speedo as stock tops out at 40 mph. Need to buy new tires as stock Kendras don’t corner/lean too well at 45(?) mph. Difficult (if not impossible) to keep it under speed limit. Cost of $300 + approximately $300 to install (if you pay someone to do it) - BUT worth every penny. Must pay 30 cents more per gallon for premium gas. So fun to ride, hard to turn around and go back home. Wife thinks I’m crazy. where are you guys getting these for $300? thanks

Big Bore Pros & Cons: Pros: Ruckus now actually performs like you previously WISHED it would. ;D Faster acceleration; easily leave cars behind when stop light changes. ;D Hills that I could barely reach the top still going 15 mph I now go up without any loss of speed. With extra speed I’m able to keep up with traffic & cars no longer tailgate me. Able to sit straight up while easily exceeding previous top speed of 40 mph. Top speed increase to well over 45 mph (can’t exactly tell for sure yet; need new speedo). Was really fun pulling away from the Porsche Boxer tailing me on a local road (OK, so he passed me later – what did you expect?). Sounds awesome with Yosh muffler. Cons: Need to buy full face helmet - bugs hurt at 45+ mph & wide grin allows bugs to get in teeth. Need to get new speedo as stock tops out at 40 mph.
