I'm a relatively new honda ruckus owner (just purchased a used 2007 rucks). I overfilled my bike's oil by a good deal (and proceeded to ride it for about 10 miles (I noticed it was ridding a bit sluggish then, but didn't yet realize my mistake). A few days later it wouldn't start. A bit of research says I should drain the oil and replace the spark plugs. Is there anything else that could have been damaged by mistake?

Beside your pride, you should be OK, the dealer techs do it all the time, the oil capacity is 600 cc, a little more than half a quarter, but most places just go ahead and put the whole quarter, and do not pump up the tires so performance goes downhill, setting the level right and go for a long ride, to make sure you burn any oil that did make it pass the rings and it should be back to normal

Ruckus engines are "Long Stroke" and the Rod/Crank will drag in the oil if You overfill it, causing a real loss in speed.....I always ran mine "ever so slightly" below the full mark...about 1/2 way in the dipstick "waffle area"..... ;D

Go to your local auto parts store and get an oil measuring filler. Some of them have a tube attached to them with a twist valve. You'll need to clean it out after each use and store it in a box or something. 550ml is perfect for mine. It also helps me see and adjust the mix when I want to use different weights or additives together. For example, in the winter I use 0w-20 with 5w-30 (30%/70%) up to 525ml and add 25ml of STP additive. Summer I use 10% 0w-20, 90% 5w-30 up to 500ml and 50ml STP oil additive. Regular oil I use is also synthetic with the STP is dino oil. Spent a good bit of time adjusting this mix for my climate. Different parts of the country may require different mixes. Some people swear by Arco Graphite and Royal Purple. You just have to test and figure out what works best in you locale and motor.
